Broadcast Network Engineer, Prime Video Live Sports

Prime Video is seeking an experienced Broadcast Network Engineer for our Live Sports Production Technical Operations team. This role includes network design and implementation to support live production across our expanding Sports portfolio including NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, NWSL, and NASCAR as well as support for the design and build-out of new facilities on our Culver City campus.

You will be part of the core engineering team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a state-of-the-art broadcast campus — working alongside systems engineers, broadcast technicians, and architects to design and operate the network infrastructure that powers live sports at scale.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage daily troubleshooting, maintenance, and implementation of network infrastructure supporting live studio, remote, and on-site productions at our Culver City broadcast campus
- Provide on-call network support during live broadcast events — rapidly triage and resolve on-air network incidents across studio, remote, and contribution infrastructure
- Support and maintain SMPTE ST 2110, command and control, and out-of-band management broadcast networks
- Turn up, troubleshoot and maintain mobile network flypack kits used to connect remote mobile units back to our data center
- Configure and maintain network hardware for video, audio, and data workflows — including monitoring, firewall security, and control systems
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, configurations, and workflows; deploy timely updates to software and firmware
- Evaluate and implement the right technology for each production use case, prioritizing stability and performance
- Support global IP-based communication platforms and secure remote contribution networks
- Conduct pre-show network verification and readiness checks across all production systems; identify and resolve issues before air
- Design and operate with a security-first mindset; collaborate with Amazon Security for architecture reviews, firewall management, and continuous monitoring

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering within broadcast, live production, or media infrastructure environments.
- Highly proficient in Cisco network equipment CLI — comfortable configuring, troubleshooting, and managing Layer 2/3 infrastructure across large production network environments.
- 3+ years implementing and managing SMPTE ST 2110 environments including multicast networking, PTP timing and synchronization, NMOS IS-04/IS-05 orchestration, and IP media transport.
- Demonstrated experience with IP multicast configuration, BGP, OSPF, QoS, and network security and firewall management.
- Working knowledge of PTP (IEEE 1588) synchronization: leader and boundary clock configuration, sync monitoring, and troubleshooting timing in live production environments.
- Familiarity with IP stream analysis and signal monitoring tools such as Bridgetech VB440/VB330, or equivalent for verifying media transport and diagnosing on-air issues.
- Advanced knowledge of Layer 1 networking and fiber infrastructure: single-mode and multimode fiber, connector types (LC, SC, MTP/MPO), MTP breakout and fanout methods, UPC vs APC polish, SFP/QSFP transceiver selection, and fiber plant documentation.
- Experience supporting studio production environments or broadcast control rooms.
- Experience implementing and maintaining infrastructure automation tools like Ansible or Terraform
- Willingness to travel to remote venues or studios as needed (up to 50%)

Preferred Qualifications

- Current CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC)
- Hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM tools
- Hands-on experience with AWS networking: Direct Connect, VPC, Route Tables
- Experience implementing and maintaining enterprise network monitoring systems
- Experience managing network change control in live production environments — including documentation, testing procedures, and rollback plans that account for zero-downtime requirements.
- Experience working with and troubleshooting carrier circuits — including circuit turn-up, fault isolation, and coordination with providers for point-to-point EPL or dedicated internet access services.
- Basic systems administration experience including Windows, Linux, macOS a plus.
- Practical scripting and automation experience (Bash, Python, or equivalent) applied to infrastructure tasks.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
