Compensation Details:

- Enterprise Architect 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

- Enterprise Architect 19: Salaries typically range from $112,006 to $149,341 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

- Export Development Canada operates under a hybrid work model, with employees currently required to work from the office three days per week (subject to change).
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a compact but highly influential team within the Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) group that provides critical strategic and tactical services to and on behalf of other functions at EDC.

The EA team operates within an innovative architecture as a service model, delivering tailored expertise and guidance across the organization. With a commitment to continuous improvement, the team is actively engaged in re-defining its suite of service offerings—ensuring that support remains agile, relevant, and closely aligned to evolving business and technology needs. This forward-thinking approach empowers EA to deliver measurable impact, foster strategic partnerships, and remain at the forefront of enterprise transformation.

We are currently seeking Senior and Principal Enterprise Architects to join this dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping EDC’s digital future.

Operating within a robust end-to-end architecture governance flow from strategy, objectives and key results to solution design review and strategic monitoring, the Senior Enterprise Architect will facilitate cross-functional direction on the use, scope, boundaries and enterprise alignment of major corporate investments as they are implemented through alignment EDC’s Digital Strategy. The ability to apply and explain enterprise architecture principles and communicate enterprise architecture vision into actionable direction that facilitates well-structured technology delivery is critical.

This is not simply a conceptual or advisory position - our ideal candidate brings a passion for translating business vision into action. You will lead the design and evolution of enterprise business capabilities, facilitate the adoption of integrated frameworks, and influence the execution of EDC’s 3 Year Digital Roadmap. Through governance forums and direct engagement, you will help teams navigate architectural decisions, mitigate risks, and ensure that technology investments deliver maximum value for EDC and its customers.

As a Senior Enterprise Architect (Level 18), you will work with business and technology stakeholders across EDC to develop architecture direction, guide strategic initiatives, and help evolve the organization's technology target state. You will play a key role in connecting business objectives with technology execution, ensuring that architectural decisions support long-term enterprise goals while enabling successful delivery of business outcomes.

The successful candidate will provide architecture leadership across strategic initiatives, support enterprise governance processes, influence technology and platform decisions, and collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders to advance EDC's digital transformation objectives.

As a Principal Enterprise Architect (Level 19), the role includes additional enterprise-wide leadership responsibilities related to strategic direction, governance, and business transformation.

What you will be doing:

- Engage business and technology stakeholders to develop and evolve enterprise strategies, digital roadmaps, and target architectures.

- Develop architecture guidance, principles, standards, and recommendations that enable successful delivery of business and technology initiatives.

- Collaborate across business, application, data, integration, infrastructure, and platform teams to drive business outcome-focused architecture decisions.

- Provide architectural leadership through governance processes, forums, and decision-making activities.

- Build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across business and technology functions.

- Coach and mentor architecture practitioners and contribute to the evolution of architecture practices and standards.

- Apply business architecture concepts, capabilities, and enterprise architecture disciplines to inform strategic planning and solution design.

Additional responsibilities – Level 18

- Contributes to the development of enterprise strategy, digital roadmaps, and target architectures.

- Applies architecture governance frameworks, standards, and practices.

- Influences stakeholders and delivery teams across business and technology domains.

Additional responsibilities – Level 19

- Leads the evolution of enterprise business architecture strategy, governance, and transformation direction.

- Defines, governs, and continuously improves enterprise architecture practices and architecture frameworks.

- Influences enterprise-wide strategic, investment, and transformation decisions with senior executives.

- Identifies, prioritizes, and drives enterprise transformation opportunities and business capability evolution.

What we are looking for:

- University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or another field relevant to Enterprise Architecture.

- Minimum 7 years of enterprise architecture experience (Level 18) or 10 years of enterprise and/or business architecture experience (Level 19).

- Demonstrated experience developing architecture strategies, roadmaps, architecture designs, and technology direction.

- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture concepts, business architecture, business capabilities, platform strategy, SaaS ecosystems, APIs, integration patterns, and modern technology delivery practices.

- Proven ability to influence outcomes across cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

- Ability to think strategically, act tactically, and execute operationally.

- Strong communication, facilitation, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Knowledge of architecture governance, architecture principles, and enterprise planning processes.

- Additional requirements for Level 19:

- Demonstrated experience defining or governing enterprise architecture and/or business architecture frameworks.

- Demonstrated experience influencing senior leadership and facilitating strategic decision-making across organizational boundaries.

- Experience stewarding enterprise business capability models, operating models, or transformation frameworks.

What will make you stand out:

- Prior architecture involvement in implementing market-leading platforms in customer and employee servicing ecosystems specifically ServiceNow, Salesforce and modern SaaS based ERPs.

- Knowledge and experience in existing, new, and emerging technologies such as Generative AI / AI solutions/applications.

- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
