Position Purpose

The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Butcher Block department, ensuring exceptional customer service, product quality, food safety compliance, inventory management, and department profitability. This position leads department associates, supports sales growth initiatives, and ensures fresh meat and seafood products are presented according to company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Department Operations

- Oversee daily operations of the Butcher Block department.
- Ensure department displays are fully stocked, properly merchandised, and visually appealing.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and inventory levels throughout the day.
- Coordinate product preparation, packaging, and replenishment activities.
- Ensure department readiness and operational execution during all business hours.

Leadership & Team Development

- Lead, coach, and develop department associates.
- Provide training on product knowledge, service standards, food safety, and operational procedures.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor completion.
- Foster a positive, productive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Support performance management and associate development initiatives.

Customer Service

- Deliver exceptional customer service and foster customer loyalty.
- Assist customers with product selection, cooking recommendations, and special orders.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote department offerings and value-added services.
- Ensure associates provide knowledgeable and friendly customer interactions.

Product Quality & Merchandising

- Maintain the highest standards of freshness, quality, and presentation.
- Ensure proper product rotation and inventory control practices are followed.
- Execute promotional displays, seasonal merchandising plans, and sales initiatives.
- Verify pricing accuracy and signage compliance.
- Monitor department conditions and implement corrective actions when needed.

Inventory & Shrink Control

- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management activities.
- Monitor product movement and sales trends.
- Reduce shrink through proper handling, rotation, and inventory practices.
- Conduct inventory counts and assist with department audits.
- Ensure proper storage procedures to preserve product quality and minimize waste.

Food Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies.
- Monitor proper handling, storage, preparation, and packaging procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and displays.
- Promote workplace safety and proper equipment operation.
- Support regulatory inspections and audit readiness.

Financial Performance

- Support achievement of department sales, labor, and profit goals.
- Monitor productivity and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve profitability.
- Assist with labor planning and scheduling activities.
- Execute plans that drive department growth and customer engagement.
