Purchase Engineer

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring technical equipment, raw materials, custom-fabricated parts, and engineering services. This role conducts technical-commercial bid evaluations, manages specialized vendor bases, and leads cost-engineering initiatives to ensure project specifications, quality standards, and budget targets are strictly met.
Years of Experience: 2 to 5 Years
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Diploma. A Master’s degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
Responsibilities:

- Technical Sourcing & Vendor Selection

- Interpret technical datasheets, Material specifications to identify correct procurement requirements.
- Identify, audit, and onboard qualified technical vendors and specialized fabricators capable of meeting strict Industrial tolerances and quality standards.
- Conduct Techno-Commercial Comparisons (TCC) to evaluate supplier bids based on technical capability, compliance with specifications, cost, and delivery timelines.

- Negotiation & Contract Management

- Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, technical guarantees, warranties, and delivery schedules for engineering equipment and raw materials.
- Draft and finalize purchase orders (POs) and technical purchase specifications (TPS) ensuring clear contractual terms, liquidated damages (LD) clauses, and quality acceptance criteria.

- Procurement Project Management & Expediting

- Expedite manufacturing and delivery timelines for critical components through regular factory visits, progress checks, and vendor milestones.
- Coordinate pre-dispatch inspections (PDI) with internal Quality Assurance or third-party inspection agencies (TPIA).
- Resolve queries (RFIs) between suppliers and internal teams.

- Cost Optimization & Market Analysis

- Analyze trends in raw material markets to time purchases and mitigate price volatility risks.
- Develop alternative sourcing options (localization, import substitution, dual-sourcing) for critical single-source components.

Skills Required:
- Strong technical-commercial negotiation capability.
- Analytical approach to cost breakdowns and Should-Cost modeling.
- Effective cross-functional communication between Departments and business units.

Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Understanding Material Technical Specification, Standard. .
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems
- Understanding of manufacturing processes .
- Knowledge of global quality standards.
