About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Technician to support the deployment, operation and maintenance of AssayTrack systems across surface exploration, resource definition and surface mining operations throughout Australia.
This role sits within Hopper Industrial Group (HIG), a subsidiary aligned with Orica's operations and offers the opportunity to work closely within Orica's global technology and mining environment.
This role will initially be based in our Perth (Welshpool) office and workshop, supporting equipment preparation, logistics, operational planning and product readiness activities. As the business grows, the successful candidate must be willing and able to transition into site-based rostered field work as required by operational demands.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient field operations while acting as a trusted interface between customers, mine site personnel and Orica's technical teams.
This position is ideally suited to a practical mining professional with strong operational experience, mechanical aptitude, leadership capability and a commitment to safety and customer service.
What you will be doing
- Prepare, inspect, test and maintain AssayTrack equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Mobilise, operate and support AssayTrack systems at surface mining sites across Australia.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to maximise equipment reliability.
- Lead field activities, coordinate with site stakeholders and ensure safe, efficient operations.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, maintain accurate records and ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Provide technical support, customer training and mentoring while promoting safety and continuous improvement.
What you will bring
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Manual HR Driver’s Licence and Australian Citizenship.
- Experience in surface mining/resource definition environments with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Ability to travel extensively and work on remote mine sites.
- Eligible to obtain required site inductions, medical clearances, access permits, and radiation-related licences.
- Strong communication, customer engagement, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Flexible to transition from workshop/office-based work to rostered field operations.
Desirable Experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience in mining operations.
- Experience with mining technology, instrumentation, automation, or field-based systems.
- Equipment mobilisation, site logistics, and contractor coordination experience.
- Previous involvement in mining technology deployment projects.

We are looking for practical, safety-focused mining professionals who enjoy working both in the workshop and in the field. The successful candidate will be adaptable, mechanically minded and comfortable working in dynamic operational environments while supporting the growth of a new mining technology business.
Prior wireline, geophysical or downhole logging experience is not required. We are more interested in candidates who bring strong mining operational experience, sound mechanical aptitude, leadership capability and a willingness to learn and grow with the business.
