## About Datastraw
Datastraw Technologies is an AI Ops company helping businesses transform their operations into AI-first operations. We build the systems, infrastructure and intelligence that enable businesses to automate, optimise and scale how work gets done. We’re building the technology behind customer experience for modern consumer brands - bringing together customer conversations, workflows, knowledge, automation and AI to make CX operations more intelligent, efficient and scalable. Our internal platform brings together customer conversations, brand knowledge, workflows, AI-assisted responses, operational data and third-party systems in one place. The goal is to make CX teams more efficient while giving brands better visibility and control over their customer experience. We’re still early in this journey, which means there is a lot to build.
## The Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer with 1-3 years of experience who enjoys building products, solving practical engineering problems and wants to grow into a Tech Lead over time. You’ll work closely with the founders, operations team and CX teams to understand real business problems and turn them into technology solutions. This is a hands-on role where you’ll contribute to our internal CRM, CX platform, integrations and automation. As you grow and take on more ownership, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to architecture, technical decisions, engineering processes and eventually team development.
## What You’ll Work On
1. Build & Improve the CX Platform
- Contribute to the development and improvement of our internal CRM and CX platform.
- Build features across customer conversations, agent workflows, automation and reporting.
- Work on systems that support multiple brands, teams and workflows.
- Improve the existing platform rather than constantly rebuilding from scratch.
- Identify technical debt and help improve code quality, reliability and maintainability.
### 2. AI & Customer Experience
AI is an important part of where we’re taking Datastraw. You’ll work on applying it to real customer experience problems. This could include:
- AI-assisted customer response generation
- Brand, SOP and knowledge-base retrieval
- Agent copilots
- Conversation analysis
- Automated escalation and routing
- AI voice and chat experiences
- Customer intent and sentiment understanding
- Workflow automation
- Evaluation and monitoring of AI responses
- Systems that combine human agents with AI
You don’t need to be an AI specialist. What matters is that you’re curious about new technology and interested in building useful solutions.
### 3. Integrations & Infrastructure
Our platform connects with multiple systems across the CX ecosystem. You’ll work with integrations such as:
- WhatsApp and messaging platforms
- Email and ticketing systems
- Shopify Admin API
- Meta WhatsApp API
- Instagram Graph API
You’ll also work across:
- React
- Supabase
- PostgreSQL
- Supabase Auth
- Edge Functions / RPCs
- Webhooks
- Qdrant
- OpenRouter
- DeepInfra
- LLM and AI APIs
You don’t need experience with every technology listed above. Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn and work across a modern product stack matter more.
### 4. Engineering Practices
You’ll contribute to improving how we build and maintain software, including:
- Development workflows
- Git and branching practices
- Code reviews
- Documentation
- Testing
- Deployment processes
- Monitoring and logging
- Security and access controls
- Technical planning and estimation
The goal is to build simple, practical processes that help a small team move quickly without things breaking.
### 5. Grow Towards Tech Lead
As you become more experienced and take on greater ownership, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to:
- Architecture and technical decisions
- Technical planning
- Engineering processes
- Mentoring junior engineers and interns
- Technical hiring and candidate evaluation
- Delegating technical work
- Technology roadmap
- Building and growing the technology team
The goal is to give you the opportunity to grow from a hands-on Software Engineer into a Tech Lead while staying close to the technology and product.
### 6. Technology Strategy & Cost Ownership
As you grow into the role and take on more responsibility, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to:
- Shaping Datastraw’s technology roadmap and connecting technical priorities with business needs.
- Managing and optimising technology costs across infrastructure, APIs, AI/LLM usage and third-party tools.
- Evaluating technologies and vendors to make practical decisions around performance, scalability and cost.
- Contributing to build-vs-buy decisions and helping keep technology and AI spending efficient.
- Tracking technology costs as the platform grows and identifying opportunities to optimise them.
## What We’re Looking For
You could be a strong fit if you:
- Have 1-3 years of professional software engineering experience .
- Have worked as part of a product or engineering team.
- Have experience taking ownership of features from development to deployment.
- Are comfortable working in an early-stage or fast-changing environment.
- Have strong backend and API fundamentals.
- Understand databases, authentication, APIs, webhooks and integrations.
- Have experience with React and modern web application development.
- Have worked with PostgreSQL or a similar relational database.
- Have experience with cloud-based platforms such as Supabase, AWS, GCP, Azure or similar.
- Are comfortable reading existing code and improving it.
- Can communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Can make sensible technical trade-offs rather than over-engineering everything.
- Are organised and enjoy solving practical problems.
- Have an interest in AI/LLMs and are willing to learn and experiment with them.
You’ll Be a Particularly Strong Fit If You Have
- Experience building internal tools, SaaS products or B2B platforms.
- Experience with AI/LLM applications.
- Experience with RAG, vector databases or knowledge retrieval systems.
- Experience building AI agents or agent-assist systems.
- Experience integrating WhatsApp, Shopify or other commerce/CX platforms.
- Experience working with Supabase, PostgreSQL and serverless/edge functions.
- Experience mentoring or collaborating closely with other developers.
- Experience working in a start-up or an environment where you had significant ownership.
## What We Don’t Need
We are not looking for someone who:
- Has only worked on very narrowly defined tickets.
- Needs a fully established engineering organisation around them.
- Wants every technical decision to already be made for them.
- Equates good engineering with building complex systems.
- Is interested in technology only for the sake of using the latest tools.
We’re looking for someone who can look at an existing system, understand how it works and think: “I can make this better.”

- Work on a real product used by CX teams and customers.
- Shape and improve the architecture of an early-stage platform.
- Work directly with founders and CX operators.
