Job Description

The Associate Engineer is a hands-on opportunity for someone with an electrical, electronics, engineering technology, or testing background who wants to build a career in EMC and product compliance testing. Youll work in a newly renovated and expanding Lexington laboratory, gaining direct experience with electrical and electronic products throughout the full testing lifecycle. This role offers strong hands-on training, exposure to a variety of products and testing equipment, and the opportunity to grow alongside a laboratory that is a priority market for continued company expansion and success. As the Lexington team continues to grow, there will be opportunities for engineers to develop technically and eventually move into leadership positions.

Responsibilities

- Perform hands-on product testing and evaluation in a laboratory environment.
- Conduct on-site and occasional off-site product evaluations for compliance with applicable standards and national codes.
- Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, standards, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Set up and operate test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electrical/electronic instruments.
- Set up equipment under test and troubleshoot electrical or electronic issues encountered during testing.
- Follow established test plans and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent results.
- Diagnose testing failures and assist in identifying alternative testing approaches.
- Perform construction reviews and clearly document findings, results, and technical information.
- Compile testing data and product information into final reports using established templates.
- Manage less complex testing projects from initial setup through final reporting, providing cradle-to-grave project exposure.
- Communicate project status and results with clients, sales personnel, management, and internal teams.
- Handle and track product samples throughout the testing process and prepare equipment for shipment when needed.
- Partner closely with experienced lab and field engineers during onboarding to develop technical knowledge and independence.
- Provide ongoing technical support and clarification to clients when needed.

Essential Skills

- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on testing, troubleshooting, validation, electrical, electronics, RF, or related experience. Relevant academic or laboratory experience may supplement professional experience.
- Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, production, industrial, testing, or quality-focused environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and similar testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical or electronic products and systems.
- Experience documenting test results, inspections, quality findings, or technical reports.
- Comfortable using hand tools and setting up equipment for testing.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and testing protocols.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work second shift, Monday-Friday from 4:00 PM-1:00 AM, following approximately 3-6 months of training on first shift from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Electrical or electronics product testing experience.
- Experience with product certification, compliance, validation, or verification testing.
- Previous laboratory testing experience.
- Familiarity with national codes, standards, or quality requirements related to product safety or EMC.
- Exposure to EMC testing or EMC compliance is highly preferred.
- Electrical engineering, test engineering, or compliance engineering experience.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical or electronic systems in a lab or field environment.
- Telecommunications testing experience is a plus.
- Basic project management or project ownership experience.
- Interest in continued professional development and potential advancement into leadership opportunities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally. A company credit card is provided for all travel-related expenses .

Work Environment

This position is based in a newly renovated Lexington laboratory that has recently received a cosmetic facelift and continues to undergo modernization and expansion. The Lexington lab is a priority market for company growth and continued success, creating strong opportunities for employees to expand their technical expertise and potentially progress into leadership roles as the team grows. The environment is highly hands-on and includes regular use of electrical and electronic testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and hand tools. Engineers receive exposure to the full lifecycle of testing projects, from initial product setup and troubleshooting through final documentation and reporting. New hires receive a structured onboarding period of approximately 3-6 months on first shift (8:00 AM-5:00 PM), working alongside experienced lab and field engineers. Once training is completed, the regular schedule will be Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM-1:00 AM. Benefits & Perks Include:

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Lexington, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
