Due to internal movement, we’re seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join the Fulton Hogan Maintenance team in Nelson.

#

This is a great opportunity to join a team in a role that is both challenging and rewarding.  Reporting to the Supervisor, Nelson City Maintenance, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of construction equipment and heavy machinery.  You’ll work on projects for both internal and external customers across the Nelson City region, while ensuring compliance with all relevant codes of practice and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Understand and embrace our Living Safely approach
- Take personal responsibility for the safety of your workmates, the environment, public and yourself
- Operate heavy vehicles, and other road construction equipment, including general maintenance to best practice. The primary role will be excavator based
- Assist the Foreperson and team with hand work (preparation, Asphalt surfacing), work planning, including quality, plant and materials record keeping.
- Ensure all underground services are located and protected before excavating
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the relevant job and work instruction

We’re looking for someone with

- Minimum Class 4 driver’s license
- Road Construction and Operator experience
- Road Maintenance experience
- Extensive earthworks & heavy plant machinery experience
- Able to work both independently or as a team
- An unwavering commitment towards living safely with a safety record to match
- Be a reliable individual with a strong work ethic
