Summary

The Associate – Immunization plays a vital role in supporting the successful implementation, scale-up, and sustainability of digital solutions that strengthen vaccine supply chains and immunization programs in four states in Nigeria: Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Sokoto. Working closely with government partners, health system stakeholders, and VillageReach Nigeria and global teams, this position helps ensure high-quality data, effective program coordination, and evidence-informed decision-making. Through this work, the Associate contributes to VillageReach's mission of improving equitable access to life-saving health products and strengthening resilient, government-led health systems.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

Key Responsibilities

Government Liaison & Program Coordination

- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact with NPHCDA at the national level, supporting information flow, joint planning and follow-up between VillageReach and government counterparts.
- Support state co-design workshops, operational planning sessions, and coordination meetings (including the National Logistics Working Group (NLWG) and State Logistics Working Groups (SLWG)), including preparation of materials, note-taking and tracking of agreed actions.
- Work with State Technical Officers to track health facility use of last mile vaccine stock visibility tools, reporting performance, and support needs across Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Sokoto.
- Help coordinate with other technical partners working on the last mile vaccine stock visibility platform and with related Nigeria supply chain investments.

Implementation Support Across Project Phases

- Support system and data-flow testing coordination, health facility verification and baseline data collection and documentation.
- Help track targeted health facility support, coordinate helpdesk/WhatsApp support channels and follow up on unresolved reporting or account issues.
- Help prepare dashboards and management products for SLWG reviews, document decisions and follow-up actions from performance review meetings.
- Support sustainability planning by helping compile evidence to verify readiness for transition, contribute to state continuation plans and the national last mile vaccine stock visibility documentation and learning playbook.

Monitoring, Data Quality & Reporting

- Support routine monitoring of last mile vaccine stock visibility reporting completeness, timeliness and data quality, flagging issues for follow-up with LGA and state teams.
- Contribute to weekly internal project performance reviews and quarterly cross-state review meetings.
- Support the Project Manager and M&E lead with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, synthesis and documentation, and narrative inputs for donor progress reports.

Program & Administrative Coordination

- Support the Project Manager in tracking the project workplan, timelines and deliverables against the results tracker.
- Coordinate logistics for state visits, workshops and meetings involving VillageReach staff, subawardees and government counterparts.
- Assist with drafting internal and external communications, briefs and presentations related to the project.
- Support compliance with grant and organizational requirements, including documentation of the project's gender-responsive implementation approach.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience:

Education

- Bachelor's degree required.
- Graduate degree (or equivalent experience) in public health, international development, health systems, or a related field preferred – consistent with VillageReach's Associate-level (T7) career pathway.

Experience

- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in public health, immunization or vaccine supply chain, health information systems, or program implementation.
- Experience with programmatic monitoring and evaluation, including designing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation approach in response to key learning questions, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, and routine use of data for programmatic decision-making in a fast-paced project setting
- Experience working with or alongside government health institutions in Nigeria strongly preferred; familiarity with NPHCDA, State Primary Health Care Boards, and LGA-level health structures is an asset.
- Experience supporting donor-funded programs and familiarity with grant reporting requirements is a plus.

Other Qualifications:

- Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.
- Working knowledge of, or willingness to quickly learn, digital health/data systems such as DHIS2 and OpenLMIS.
- Strong coordination, organizational and follow-through skills; comfortable managing multiple work streams and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving ability; comfortable devising solutions with limited information and working independently between check-ins.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work respectfully and effectively with government officials, health workers and community stakeholders, including attentiveness to gender-responsive programming.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Nigeria, including to Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Sokoto States.

Environment and Physical Demands:

VillageReach employees typically work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences across our USA, Kenya and Country Offices and location of other global staff, we have established core collaboration hours between 6am Pacific Time and 18:00 South Africa Time (GMT+1) Monday through Thursday. All staff, regardless of location are expected to be available between these hours. During Daylight Savings Time, this allows for 12 hours per week (3 hours/day) of collaboration time and during Standard Time, 8 hours (2 hours/day). We do not hold cross-office meetings on Friday.

Approximately 90% of the day will spent sitting on non-travel days. On travel days or during field visits, up to 75% of the day may be spent standing.

Hiring Process:

The hiring process will include the following steps:
