Regional Head of Engineering – Continental Europe

Role Context:

This role is pivotal in driving strategic alignment, cultural transformation, and organizational excellence to support the successful delivery of projects across the region. It plays a critical role in building commitment to change, particularly where significant transformation is required to achieve Worley’s vision. By establishing clear objectives and ensuring alignment across people, processes, and technology, the role enables consistent and effective project execution.

The position also focuses on building and sustaining a high-performing organization by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, ensuring the right capabilities are in place at the right time to meet evolving business and client needs.

As a strategic leader, the Regional Head of Engineering is accountable for the overall performance, governance, and delivery of engineering services across multiple projects and locations. The role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while fostering operational excellence, strengthening client relationships, and leading a high-performing engineering function across the region.

This position will provide leadership and oversight of engineering technical competency and quality programs, ensuring the ongoing development and capability of engineering personnel within the region and will sit within the overall project delivery function.

Ensuring adherence to Worley’s processes, engineering standards, design practices, regulatory requirements, and client specifications, while promoting a culture of technical excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Driving consistency, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across engineering teams to enhance project outcomes and organizational performance.

You will:

·        Support global standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates and oversees use by the team.

·        Assure the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.

·        Assist business development activities by facilitating the maintenance of personal profiles and resumes.

·        Track existing capabilities, and strategically addressing future customer capability requirements.

·        Encourage positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.

·        Be involved in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost savings efforts.

·        Steward the maintenance of pricing records reflecting the effort to complete discipline activities.

·        Support proposals by reviewing and approving the engineering execution strategy for medium to large projects, reviewing Engineering costs, reviewing proposal content, and may be required to present to customers.

·        Be called upon to lead part or all of a proposal.

·        Participate in budgeting and manage engineering operations to the budget.

·        Control engineering staffing levels, organizational structure, and monitors project discipline structures.

·        Administer engineering software licensing and costs.

·        Create and maintain engineering guidelines.

·        Ensure mentoring/training requirements are met.

·        Manage the employee performance review process.

·        Facilitate coverage of activities when people leave the team.

·        Contribute to dispute resolution efforts.

·        Ensure cross-discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.

·        Work with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance, Influence over duties.

·        Receive administrative direction based on organization policies and objectives.

·        Ensure work is reviewed for conformity with policy and for coordination of other company functions or groups.

·        Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU, etc

·        Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

You'll have:

·        A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline of Engineering from an accredited University

·        Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage

Essential Skills/requirements:

·        Experience in oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical industry.

·        Have a proven track record of managing multiple projects in Design & Engineering in the oil and gas industry.

·        Has a strong understanding of cross-discipline work, interfaces, and sequencing. Well versed in engineering governance, project execution, and fiscal management. Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content. Adept at budgeting and cost control.

·        Relevant discipline and multi-discipline engineering experience, strong experience in project leadership, and experience as a Discipline Manager.

·        Experience in project management, risk management, quality, procurement, or construction execution.

·        Highly effective people management skills such as leadership, team, interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills. Must be able to build, motivate, develop and manage an effective team.
