Shipping Technician

PHD, Inc., headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a world class manufacturer of industrial automation products designed to help companies optimize their manufacturing processes.

Our Fort Wayne Manufacturing facility is looking for energetic and motivated individuals to join our team. This person will use their excellent attention to detail, time management, and previous knowledge of international shipping skills to achieve PHD's initiatives in shipping accuracy.

As a Product Packaging/Shipping Technician you will prepare the product to ship and generate shipping labels, paperwork, etc. This is not a warehouse position. Knowledge gained, training completion, and time on the job are rewarded with scheduled raises, reaching a top pay of $23.80, with annual raises thereafter. Hours for this position are expected to be 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with training for an undetermined amount of time 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Job Duties :

Processing outgoing orders for staging or shipment (Foreign and domestic)
Affix identifying tag(s) to products as directed
Packaging product using the correct packing material
Ability to use banding machine and proper shrink wrap techniques for LTL shipments
Creating packing slips and shipping labels with JDE, UPS and FedEx software
Ensuring accuracy when verifying documentation with products being shipped
Good written and verbal communication skills
Able to work independently and within a team
Ability to multitask
Maintain the work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner
Ability to frequently lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Work Environment:

- Time is spent on the manufacturing floor, which is climate controlled.

- Work is performed on the manufacturing floor around various types of machinery which include moving parts, chemicals, coolant, and by-products of material being formed.

- Some time is spent in front of a computer screen utilizing a keyboard and manipulating a mouse.

- Must be able to do shift work.

- One level with concrete floors, no steps, stairs, or inclines

- Rubber/foam mats are present in the Assembly area

Physical Demands:

- Extensive periods of standing, walking, arm and hand motion, some foot motion

- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds regularly

- Manual dexterity, rotation of wrists

- Good visual ability

Qualifications

Requirements
A high school diploma or GED

Attention to detail
Strong sense of time organization and urgency
Previous experience in packaging and preparing related shipping documents for International Shipments is preferred.
Knowledge of carrier operations (UPS, Fed Ex) and experience with BOLs and UPS meter is preferred.
