Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Technician

Starting pay will be set at $25+/-hour. Higher pay may be available and will be determined based on experience and skill set.

Rogers Group is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Diesel Technician area for our Carolina SMA operations, reporting directly to the Shop Foreman. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for servicing a variety of asphalt and milling equipment.

This role requires significant previous experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment. The role will be responsible for performing repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of related heavy equipment. The applicant must have a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a wide range of service issues that affect major components such as engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling and electrical systems, as well as other systems generally encountered in the aggregate industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working on heavy equipment.
- Perform heavy or major maintenance repairs as needed.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks.
- Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
- Inspect machines for abnormalities or defects.
- Be able to weld and fabricate, as needed.
- Heavy equipment parts familiarization including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost of heavy equipment parts.
- Perform housekeeping duties and work area checks.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment.
- Operate a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
- Capable of working with limited supervision and scheduling own work.
- Weekend work/overtime may be required.
- Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70lbs.
- Ability to climb and perform work on heights of 20 feet.
- Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
