Division Overview :

Global Markets Division in Powai, the front-office team, delivers pricing, modelling and risk management expertise to the Global Markets business. Founded as a center of excellence, the group leads the way in price discovery and portfolio optimization techniques and is integral to the business’ aggressive revenue targets. The team is playing an integral role in structuring, pricing, risk management and new idea generation. Global Markets Division comprises of the following teams: Structuring, Quantitative Investment Strategies, IWM, Securitized Products, BRM trading and GM Front Office Risk

Business Overview

Nomura’s Securitized products team provides clients with a range of service including flow trading liquidity, financing, bespoke solutions, in-depth market analysis, and unrivalled analytics. The team in Mumbai works with counterpart teams in Asia, EMEA and US. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for analysis, conducting research, to help our desk. The team assists in identifying and valuing bond-specific opportunities in the Securitization market. The Mumbai team also prepares reports/presentations on the various macroeconomic and regulatory themes that impact the market thereby providing an evolution of the desk’s views regarding the same.

This role is for the US Securitized Products Research team which produces thoughtful and timely analysis on various product areas in order to help Nomura’s trading desk and clients identify profitable trades and emerging risks. The team has been consistently ranked #1 in Non-Agency RMBS research and in the top 3 in CLO research in annual Greenwich surveys of most helpful research analysts across the street. Additionally, the team was recently named ‘Securitization Research Team of the Year’ by Global Capital in both 2023 and 2024. The team communicates its views primarily through periodic research reports and frequent client meetings

Role & Responsibilities:

The Generalist Securitized Products Analyst will focus primarily on analyzing agency and non-agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs). In this role, the analyst is responsible for modeling/analysis, identifying collateral trends and working closely with senior analysts from the US Securitized products research team on an ongoing basis. Key tasks include the following:

• Analyzing prepayment and default trends for various types of mortgage securitizations and collateral

• Monitoring investor ownership structure in different sectors

• Monitoring and interpreting policy developments that bear on mortgage markets

• Analyze corporate credit and leveraged loans, and policy developments affecting the CLO market

• Dig into consumer credit trends across various sectors

• Explore new and emerging ABS sectors

Mind Set:

Key Skills:

- Prior experience in US or EU Securitization market covering ABS/RMBS/CMBS sectors

- Strong understanding of financial markets and investment concepts

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- Creative problem solver; works well in a team

- Familiarity with any database/statistically oriented programming language (e.g. Python, R, SQL)
