Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations/General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering function to support safe, efficient, and scalable production operations. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing process development, equipment optimization, and operational excellence while ensuring product quality, productivity, and cost objectives are achieved.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager partners closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Operations leadership to improve manufacturing performance, support new product introductions, and develop long-term manufacturing strategies.

What You Will Do:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, technicians, and technical specialists.

- Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency.

- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives.

- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.

- Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support for manufacturing operations.

- Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet production schedules and customer requirements.

- Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new products and product transfers.

- Develop manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and documentation required for successful launches.

- Evaluate, select, and implement manufacturing equipment and automation solutions.

- Manage capital projects from concept through installation and commissioning.

- Partner with Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime.

- Support compliance with quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and customer standards.

- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to improve process capability.

- Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, downtime, cycle time, and manufacturing costs.

- Take a leadership role in promoting, maintaining and demonstrating a personal commitment to IMP’s Occupational Health, Safety and Environment practices, objectives and full compliance with all Nova Scotia Provincial Health and Safety Legislation.

What You Will Bring:

- Master's degree in Engineering, or related field (preferred and considered an asset); minimally Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, related technical field.

- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment. Experience in the Aerospace industry considered an asset

- 3+ years of leadership or people management experience.

- Proven experience supporting complex manufacturing operations.

- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

- Experience with process development, equipment optimization, and root cause analysis.

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (considered an asset).

- Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies (considered an asset).

- Experience leading capital improvement projects (considered an asset).

- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, GMP, or other applicable quality standards (considered an asset).

- Experience with ERP and manufacturing execution systems (MES).

- Proficiency with manufacturing metrics, process control, and problem-solving tools.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

- Completion of Global Harmonized System (WHMIS) course.

- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the Canadian Security Clearances.
