## Job Description

Job Summary

CRFS is seeking an exceptional Compliance Director to join our team leading product compliance to ensure that our RFEye radio products are compliant for sale in commercial and defence markets in the UK, US and global markets.

You will be responsible for ensuring that products are assessed, tested to applicable CE, FCC and MIL standards for use in commercial and military applications for ground, air and maritime environments, reporting on product compliance status to senior management, ensuring that all regulatory compliance documentation is at hand and up to date.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Control and maintain compliance of the company's radio products to applicable national and international regulatory standards including EU Directives (CE), UL and FCC, and defence industry standards MIL-STD-810 and guidelines.
- Create and maintain technical files and declarations that satisfy the requirements of the above standards and directives
- Monitor and report on new and updated regulations and standards and their impacts on the company's products
- Liaise directly with internal development and production teams and external test laboratories and notified bodies to plan, co-ordinate and execute test accreditation activities
- Analyse internal and external test results and reports, and use the findings to generate updated compliance verification and test plans and provide guidance to design engineering teams to help them to deliver compliant product solutions
- Report on and present product compliance status to internal stakeholders and auditors
- Create technical compliance assessments in response to end user contractual requirements
- Contribute to design review and the release of new products and product upgrades to ensure that all new products are developed in a manner that is suitable for standards accreditation
- Take part in the engineering change process to ensure ongoing product compliance
- Contribute to the continual development and improvement of the department's processes and procedures and the sharing of knowledge and best practice as required
- National and (occasional) international travel in support of the company's objectives
- Conduct activities in a professional manner
- To undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required.

Basic Requirements

Experience and Qualification Required

Essential

- Bachelor's degree or similar in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum of 5 years ownership of company product compliance. With evidence of taking products through certification from design stage to launch
- Detailed knowledge of Safety, EMC, Environmental standards and directives for CE / FCC /RoHS /WEEE for radio products.
- Experience managing external test labs and notified bodies, including handling failures and getting retests turned round without the launch slipping
- Responsibility for building and maintaining technical files and DoCs to a standard that survives an audit
- Able to read regulatory text and turn it into something an engineer can understand and act on.
- Self-starter able to prioritise workload in relation to set priorities in relation to project aspects, and to deliver assigned standard work
- Able to work as an individual, and as part of a team delivering with equal performance
- Able to use application software required to support product compliance and document for laboratory use.
- Personable and approachable. Confident to interact with 3rd party service providers representing the business
- Confident to interact with all levels of staff within the business including senior managers & directors

Highly Desirable

- Technical understanding of high-frequency RF architectures (up to 40GHz+), receivers, spectrum monitoring devices, and antenna systems.
- Experience working to MIL-STD-810 climatic/mechanical testing (vibration, shock, extreme temperature) and DEF STAN requirements.
- Experience working with MIL-STD-461 tests for EMC compliance

Desirable

- Global approval experience, securing international type approvals in APAC, LATAM, and Middle East markets beyond core CE/FCC domains.
- Automation & Scripting, ability to script or automate compliance test equipment using Python, Shell to accelerate pre-compliance cycles.
- System integration, understanding of vehicle-mounted, tactical dismounted, or unmanned platform integration requirements.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC level).
