Qualifications

Midrex is accelerating its digital initiative focused on software-defined industrial solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Product Management Leader who will be responsible for maximizing the value of Midrex’s external digital products by translating business strategy, engineering requirements, and customer needs into prioritized, deliverable capabilities.

This role carries dual accountability. As tower leader, you set product direction across the portfolio, allocate product manager capacity against priorities, establish the standards and cadences the team works to, and develop product managers As a product leader, you own the what and why of your assigned products and ensure development teams build the highest-value capabilities first.

The Product Management tower is the connective tissue between plant-floor operational reality, customer value, and software delivery. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Midrex’s digital product portfolio: defining what gets built, why it matters, and how success is measured. You and your team will work with information technology professionals, process technology experts, field operations, and commercial teams, and directly with Midrex customers, to validate that what we build actually solves their problems.

The Product Management Leader ensures our digital solutions evolve from project-based deliverables to scalable, revenue-generating platforms and that the product management capability behind them matures at the same pace.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Lead the Product Management tower and directly manage product managers

- Set portfolio direction, priorities, expectations, and product manager capacity

- Coach, onboard, mentor, and develop product managers across the tower

- Own the Midrex Product Management Framework and ensure consistent practices

- Own and continuously develop Midrex’s Product Management Center of Excellence (COE)

- Recruit, onboard, and retain product management talent, and build succession depth within the tower

- Resolve cross-product dependencies, sequencing conflicts, and competing priorities across the portfolio

- Translate Midrex’s External Digitalization strategy into actionable product roadmaps across the portfolio

- Define product goals aligned to customer outcomes and recurring revenue growth

- Own business case development and ROI tracking across the product portfolio

- Partner with Business Management to define pricing and market-development strategies

- Own flagship digital products with roadmap, backlog, and outcome accountability

- Own and continuously refine the product backlog for directly owned products

- Prioritize features based on business value, customer impact, risk, and technical dependencies

- Balance new feature development with platform scalability and technical debt

- Maintain clear user stories with acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes

- Collaborate with Engineering, Process Technology, Automation, and Operations teams

- Translate plant-level operational needs into scalable digital product features

- Lead customer feedback and requirement-validation efforts, and equip product managers to do the same

- Ensure digital products integrate seamlessly with Midrex engineering platforms

- Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and backlog grooming

- Accept completed work based on defined criteria

- Ensure releases meet quality, performance, and cybersecurity standards

- Define requirements for data pipelines, analytics models, and AI-enabled features

- Partner with Data & Analytics teams to ensure governance and integrity

- Translate operational KPIs (DRI plant performance, uptime, efficiency) into digital dashboards and insights

- Define success metrics for product adoption and customer value

- Report portfolio performance — adoption, revenue contribution, and customer satisfaction — to the Director and executive leadership

- Drive continuous improvement based on measurable outcomes

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

- Proven ability to own and manage a product backlog in an Agile/Scrum environment, including writing high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria

- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of product managers or product owners, including goal setting, performance management, and capability building

- Proven ability to establish and enforce a common product management framework across a portfolio of products at differing levels of maturity

- Experience translating complex operational or engineering requirements into prioritized, deliverable digital capabilities ideally in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or process industry contexts

- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills across engineering, commercial, and executive audiences; comfortable presenting product strategy to C-level stakeholders

- Strong analytical and financial acumen, able to build ROI models, track revenue attribution, and make data-driven prioritization decisions

- Proficiency with Agile delivery tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent) and product documentation platforms (Confluence, Notion, or equivalent)

Preferred:

- Direct experience with industrial digital platforms, IoT connectivity, SCADA/DCS integration, digital twins, simulation tools, predictive analytics, or remote asset monitoring

- Experience standing up or maturing a product management function, including framework definition, role definition, and the transition of technical staff into product roles

- Familiarity with engineering systems and platforms relevant to Midrex's ecosystem: Siemens COMOS, AVEVA, Autodesk ACC/Vault, OSIsoft PI, SAP, or Dynamics 365

- Exposure to AI/ML product development, defining model requirements, working with data science teams, and governing AI use cases in a regulated or IP-sensitive environment

- Experience with B2B SaaS go-to-market motions including tiered pricing, customer onboarding, and recurring revenue model design

- CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or equivalent Agile product certification

Education and Experience:

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field

- Or Bachelor’s in Business/Management with 5+ years of experience in a technical product role as a compensating factor

- 5+ years of product management or product ownership experience, including at least 3 years managing commercial software products through full lifecycle (discovery through launch and iteration)

- 2+ years of direct people-leadership experience, including managing product managers, product owners, or equivalent technical professionals

Preferred:

- Master’s degree in Product Development, Systems Engineering, Business (MBA), or Data Science

- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent agile product certification

Travel Requirements:

- Up to 10% International and Domestic based upon organizational needs.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
