JOB SUMMARY

Assist with the disposal of surplus/retiring railcars in a timely manner that optimizes cash recovery, while efficiently salvaging X-material to the greatest extent practical. Ensure disposition of both general scrap and excess/obsolete material at TTX car repair locations without negatively affecting field operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with negotiating, drafting, updating, and maintaining railcar scrap, railcar sales, and general scrap contracts.

• Optimize cash recovery from scrap generated by Company maintenance activities, and maximize revenue generated from the retirement of Company rolling stock that is over-age, surplus, or otherwise approved for disposal. Conduct all activities in full compliance with Company policies and procedures.

• Assist with coordinating the return of reclaimable material generated from the retirement of railcars and the compilation, approval processing, and disposition of all excess and obsolete material in compliance with Company policies and procedures. This includes participating in regular site audits of scrap dealers and coordinating "casting inspections" as needed. Act as the liaison between Equipment, Supply Chain, and Scrap Dealers regarding safety issues and the proper handling of reclaimable parts.

• Assist with developing and maintaining marketing and sales channels needed for rolling stock sales growth. Responsible for customer relations with existing and potential railcar buyers.

• Lead the resolution of scrap invoicing discrepancies and disagreements by analyzing supporting documentation, researching transaction details, coordinating with internal and external parties, and developing practical solutions that ensure accurate invoicing, payment, and contract compliance.

• Assist with developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to asset disposition, and coordinate with Internal Audit and/or Operational Excellence team(s) to ensure proper controls are in place for all activities. Assist with reviewing policies and procedures that relate to Asset Disposal, and update as required to ensure the efficient operation of the company's disposal program.

• Assist the Senior Manager Asset Management in accomplishing the goals of the department by completing special projects as requested.

• Assist with identifying potential scrap cars and compile the financial worksheet needed to support senior management approvals to update and maintain Scrap Campaigns.

• Prepare reports related to retired railcars, miscellaneous scrap revenue, and other asset disposal activities as appropriate.

• Lead ICFR compliance efforts for scrap activities, including control testing, documentation review, and remediation of identified issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Four-year college or university program degree required.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and similar computer software are required. Knowledge or ability to learn other software available to develop statistics and documentation that drive decision-making and strategy is required. Ability to organize and prepare numerical-based information into actionable reports and presentations.

• Three or more years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to develop, read, edit, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Interpersonal skills and professional demeanor required to represent a positive image of TTX to internal and external parties. Proven ability to negotiate, coupled with the ability to respectfully defend the interests of TTX.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with various priorities. Strong ability to prioritize based on department goals and current strategy. Strong follow-through skills.

General office environment; willingness to travel up to 25% is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or transport up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to work outside, in an industrial setting or around railroad operations.
