Med/Oncology

Patient Population: Med/Surg/Tele, PCU, Oncology, Chemo, Postop surgery (breast, bladder, lung, colon, and crani ), Cardiac drips, Palliative Care (end of life and hospice support)

Patient Ratios: 1:4 for Chemo; 1:5 for Med/Tele

Number of Beds: 20 beds

Department Specifics: Active Unit Based Council, Pharmacist and Social Worker on the unit during the day to partner with nurses in patient care, Multidisciplinary Team that works together, Chemotherapy training is required within the first 90 days. We love celebrating together in an environment that encourages excellence.

Shift: Seasonal Nights; 13 weeks (1st week is a full week of Orientation, followed by 3-12 hour shifts per week)

Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period

Experience Requirements: 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience, or 1 year of recent PCU

Job Summary

As a Seasonal RN, you align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, implement care plans. Monitor patient progress is also vital. Your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment.

Essential Functions of the Role

- Using good judgment and clinical reasoning, conduct thorough assessments following practice standards.
- Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly. Make adjustments as needed.
- Creating safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
- Managing emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.

Qualifications

- A degree from a recognized nursing program
- A valid Registered Nurse license
- The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.
