SCHOOL DOCTOR / GENERAL PRACTITIONER

Location: Bugesera, Rwanda
Reports to: Medical Director

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced School Doctor / General
Practitioner to provide comprehensive primary medical care to students,
staff, and faculty and support the overall health and wellbeing of the school
community.

As a residential school, the institution provides
round-the-clock guidance, supervision, and support to students. The Doctor will
assess and manage illnesses and injuries, respond to medical emergencies,
provide preventive and adolescent healthcare, maintain accurate medical
records, and coordinate referrals when required.

The Doctor will work closely with other medical staff,
wellbeing staff, dormitory/residential staff, and school leadership, using a
culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach. The Doctor will also support
safeguarding responsibilities, maintain professional boundaries, and protect
student confidentiality and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide
medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Respond
to medical emergencies and coordinate hospital referrals when required.
- Provide
preventive, primary, and adolescent healthcare.
- Maintain
accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records.
- Ensure
clear clinical documentation and effective handover between shifts.
- Work
collaboratively with other doctors, wellbeing staff, residential staff,
and school leadership.
- Support
health education and school health initiatives.
- Participate
in emergency preparedness and school trips when required.
- Follow
all safeguarding, confidentiality, and clinical policies.
- Provide
occasional after-hours on-call support when required.
- Ensure
compliance with national and local health policies applicable to schools.
- Promptly
report safeguarding and child-protection concerns while maintaining
students' privacy, dignity, and appropriate medical confidentiality.
- Manage
medications safely and maintain appropriate infection-prevention and
disease-control procedures.
- Support
medical emergency response, referrals, evacuations, clinical handovers,
and follow-up care.
- Coordinate
appropriate escalation and specialist care when required.

Requirements

- MD,
MBBS, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized university.
- Valid
medical license/registration to practice in Rwanda.
- 2–5
years of clinical experience , preferably in general practice, primary
care, adolescent health, or pediatrics.
- Experience
working with adolescents is an advantage.
- BLS
certification is preferred.
- Availability
to work in Bugesera, Rwanda from October 2026 .
- Willingness
and ability to live on campus in Bugesera, Rwanda.
- Ability
to work a rotating schedule, including weekends.
- Strong
communication, documentation, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability
to pass a criminal background check.

Candidate Profile

This position is specifically open to female, single
candidates who are willing to reside on the school campus. Due to the
nature of the residential school environment, the successful candidate will be
required to live on campus and work closely with female students in a
boarding-school setting.

Compensation & Benefits

The successful candidate will receive:

- Gross
monthly salary: RWF 1,800,000 – 2,000,000

Working Hours

The clinic provides coverage 7 days a week, from 7:00 AM
to 10:00 PM , through rotating shifts:

- Morning
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Afternoon
& Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Occasional after-hours on-call support may be required.

Location

Bugesera, Rwanda

The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate to and
reside on the school campus for the duration of the assignment.
