As a HERO Dispatcher, you will serve as the vital communication hub connecting motorists, emergency responders, law enforcement agencies, and HERO field personnel. Your ability to monitor roadway conditions, coordinate rapid responses, and communicate effectively during time-sensitive situations will help reduce traffic congestion, improve motorist safety, and support emergency response efforts throughout the Odessa region.

As a HERO Dispatcher, you will:

- Monitor roadway camera systems and traffic management tools to identify crashes, disabled vehicles, roadway debris, hazardous conditions, and other incidents affecting traffic flow.
- Dispatch HERO Operators to incidents using established communication protocols while providing accurate information and clear directions.
- Coordinate and communicate with TxDOT personnel, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and field operations staff.
- Track, document, and update incidents, lane closures, construction activities, and traffic events using Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) software.
- Provide motorists and stakeholders with real-time roadway and traffic condition information.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, reports, equipment status checks, contact information, and operational documentation.
- Support safe and efficient operations by adhering to established procedures and communication standards.
- Successfully complete all required training and certification requirements.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least six (6) months of customer service, customer support, call center, dispatch, public safety, transportation, or related experience within the last three years.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and detail-oriented in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to multitask while utilizing multiple software systems and communication tools simultaneously.
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Dispatch, emergency communications, transportation operations, call center, military, public safety, or first responder experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
- Experience utilizing radio communications systems or incident management software.
