Purpose:

The Capital Project Manager is responsible for on-time, in-budget and in-scope delivery of one or more capital projects at a time. The role is cross-functional in nature, requiring tactical coordination of colleagues in Corporate Engineering and in Business Units to ensure projects are executed safely and to specification. An interdisciplinary mixture of technical, operations and engineering skills are necessary to be successful in the role. Communication with internal stakeholders and external parties (vendors, regulatory agencies, etc.) is a common function. Capital projects vary in scope, ranging from equipment modification to newly designed and constructed manufacturing lines.

This role is based on Tonawanda, NY.

Responsibilities:

- Operate with a safety-first approach.
- Contribute to and review project proposals to determine: timelines, funding and staffing requirements, allotment of resources to various project phases, and relevant project KPIs.
- Define and coordinate the activities of colleagues across the business (especially Operations, Corporate Engineering and Finance) to execute projects from proposal through commissioning.
- Facilitate and own vendor relationships, as well as their on-site safety and activities, with the Capital Project Engineers. This also includes close collaboration with Alkegen’s Global Procurement team to coordinate NDAs, MSAs, contract negotiations, bid events, maintenance agreements, warranties, etc.
- Manage – and maintain clear records of – project spend, timelines, scope and change requests.
- Communicate effectively and frequently to maintain alignment with internal stakeholders.
- Typical travel 25-35%, majority of travel is domestic to the United States, but international travel is required at times depending on project assignment.

Qualifications/ Experience:

- B.S. degree or higher in mechanical, chemical, electrical, manufacturing or controls engineering with a minimum of 7 years in Operations or Corporate Engineering roles.
- Experience coordinating with EPCs is beneficial.
- Ability to drive projects to completion, operating a high pace and leading those assigned to the project to do the same, holding all corresponding project members and suppliers/vendors accountable for actions, timetables, and commitments.
- Results oriented; seeks effective, creative solutions to process problems.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills in front of all levels of the organization
- Knowledgeable in the use of engineering software (simulation packages, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Minitab, Office Suite, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, CMS, etc.)

Measures Of Performance

- On-time, on-budget and in-scope delivery of approved CAPEX projects
- Accurate documentation of project progress and closure

Compensation:

- $123,000-$154,000/annually
- Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
