Job Title: Control Engineer Job Description
The Control Engineer is tasked with developing and maintaining control system software for custom robotic control systems, data acquisition, and inspection systems, as well as other automated tooling. This role is specific to work at Bruce Power MCR+.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement modifications to existing control system software.
- Perform calculations, failure modes & effects analysis, and risk assessments to defend designs.
- Evaluate components and systems, providing recommendations to the design team.
- Prepare technical documents, specifications, and reports.
- Participate in field implementation of systems, which may involve domestic or overseas travel for durations ranging from a few days to several weeks.
- Occasionally work with equipment containing high voltages.
Essential Skills
- 3-8 years of experience in PLC software design, maintenance, and configuration management (experience with Siemens TIA or Siemens S7 is preferred).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, preferably Ignition.
- Experience with Machine Control, Motion Control, and Servo drive setups (Schneider - EcoStruxure Platform experience is beneficial but not necessary).
- Experience with Discrete Automation, Material Handling Systems, PLC programming, Step 7, S7, software development, automation, automated equipment, SCADA development, VFD, servo drive, vision system troubleshooting, HMI, Visual Basic, C++, S7-SCL, S7-GRAPH, S7-Starter, SIMATIC NET, and WinCC.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Security clearance to Bruce Power or equivalent.
- Experience in nuclear, automotive, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience with Schneider Motion Control.
Work Environment
Candidates will primarily work at the Cambridge facility, a large manufacturing site featuring new robotic systems and nuclear mock-up reactors. This is an exciting environment, offering state-of-the-art research and development opportunities. The position involves a 4 on, 4 off schedule with 12-hour shifts. As projects evolve, there may be a need for shift work, with night hours compensated at a 10% premium. Overtime is available after 42 hours at a rate of 1.5x and 2x after 55 hours.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
