Senior Field Service Representative

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Representative to provide advanced technical support for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and overhaul of reciprocating compressors and related equipment.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position for an experienced field service professional who can independently diagnose complex mechanical issues, make sound technical decisions, and deliver high-quality service in demanding field environments.

As a senior member of the field service team, you will also serve as a technical resource to other Field Service Representatives while working closely with customers, operations, project personnel, and management to ensure service assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.

What You'll Do

- Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, and overhaul of reciprocating compressors and associated equipment.

- Diagnose complex mechanical and equipment performance issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

- Perform compressor inspections, measurements, alignments, adjustments, and component replacements according to applicable specifications and procedures.

- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, equipment manuals, specifications, service procedures, and work instructions.

- Use precision measurement instruments, specialty tools, and diagnostic equipment to inspect components and verify tolerances and operating conditions.

- Inspect equipment and components for wear, damage, and nonconformance and accurately document findings.

- Serve as a senior technical resource during complex field service assignments and major equipment overhauls.

- Provide technical guidance and support to Field Service Representatives and other service personnel as needed.

- Coordinate field activities with customers, supervisors, project personnel, and other departments.

- Clearly communicate equipment conditions, technical findings, repair recommendations, and job status to customers and management.

- Complete service reports, inspection reports, timesheets, expense reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.

- Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and assigned assets in proper working condition.

- Work independently with limited supervision while exercising sound technical judgment.

- Maintain a professional presence while representing the company at customer facilities.

- Travel to customer locations and remain on assignment as required to support operational and customer needs.

- Work extended hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as business needs require.

- Follow all company, customer, and site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.

- Participate in job safety analyses, pre-job planning, toolbox meetings, and required safety activities.

- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection.

- Identify and address potential workplace hazards.

- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental concerns according to established procedures.

- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at company and customer facilities.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.

- Vocational or technical school certification or an Associate Degree in a mechanical or related technical discipline preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience preferred in field service, reciprocating compressor maintenance and overhaul, large diesel engine repair, or a similar heavy mechanical environment.

- Advanced mechanical knowledge of reciprocating compressors, associated components, and related equipment.

- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and overhaul complex mechanical equipment.

- Experience using precision measurement instruments, specialty tools, and mechanical diagnostic equipment.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and service documentation.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely and effectively perform the essential responsibilities of the position.

- Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable company driving requirements.

- Ability to provide required personal hand tools as directed by Operations Management.

Physical & Work Requirements

This is a physically demanding field position. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

The position may require the ability to:

- Perform the physical labor necessary to complete field service assignments.

- Work overtime as needed, with 10 to 12-hour workdays being typical.

- Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques and procedures.

- Stand, walk, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, push, pull, and reach.

- Perform overhead work while utilizing appropriate fall protection.

- Safely handle and operate tools, equipment, and controls.

- Meet applicable visual requirements necessary to safely perform field service responsibilities.

- Work in industrial and customer-site environments requiring appropriate PPE.

- Perform duties while using respiratory protection when required, including SCBA, air-purifying respirators, and particle masks.

- Travel and remain at customer locations for the duration of assignments as business needs require.
