POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is a member of a multi-disciplined crew responsible for all maintenance activities of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues, and compliance with policies and procedures are essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal.

This is a DOT position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Perform the duties of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal Maintenance Technician in a 4-10 or 7-12 rotational environment, including holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Maintain all pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, unloading arms, etc.
- Train on environmental safety, operations, and security procedures annually.
- Maintain the facility recognizing the environmental consequences of actions taken and striving for the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
- Record maintenance data and inform the Maintenance Supervisor of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; Works with Maintenance Supervisor to expeditiously resolve problems and improve plant reliability and safety.
- Perform all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge:

Understand plant surroundings and can identify relevant equipment. Understand the physical properties of LNG. Possess basic knowledge of safe handling practices, governmental regulations, and related technical and safety codes, standards, and reporting requirements. Knowledgeable of plant rules and guidelines regarding relevant equipment operations and certification requirements. In-depth knowledge of plant maintenance protocols and equipment diagnostics.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education, Training and Certifications : High School diploma or GED is required. Formal education in related technical or engineering disciplines or related military training/experience is desirable.

Craft Skill: Must be qualified in at least one of the following:

- Millwright
- Mechanical

Experience:

- Technician 2: 2+ years relevant work experience required.
- Technician 3: 4+ years relevant work experience required.

WORK CONDITIONS

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
- Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
- Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
- All responsibilities must be met in a call-out environment, including holidays, weekends, and nights.
- Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status
