Position Summary

The Trimble Operator uses Trimble robotic total station equipment and approved layout point files to   establish   accurate   field locations for commercial mechanical, plumbing, piping, HVAC, and equipment installations. The role verifies project control, performs field layout, protects established points, and communicates discrepancies between the provided layout information and actual field conditions. The Trimble Operator coordinates daily layout priorities with project and field teams and does not create or   modify   BIM point files. This position reports to the Survey Lead.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Review approved BIM models, layout files, drawings, project control, elevations, tolerances, and   required   layout points before beginning field work.

- Set up, verify, protect, and   operate   robotic total stations, data collectors, prisms, lasers, and other construction layout equipment.

- Check and verify project control before performing layout and routinely throughout the project. Establish,   maintain , and verify control to ensure accuracy is   maintained   within 1/8" throughout the project.

- Establish and verify layout points for MEP sleeves, inserts, hangers, equipment pads, penetrations, piping, ductwork, equipment, and other mechanical and plumbing installations.

- Transfer and   establish   horizontal and vertical control throughout the project, including transferring control between floors and work areas while   maintaining   required project accuracy.

- Verify layout against project control, building grids, benchmarks, BIM models, and field conditions before releasing points for installation.

- Identify , document, and communicate discrepancies between BIM models, drawings, project control, existing conditions, and field installations.

- Coordinate daily layout priorities, access, and sequencing with Superintendents, Foremen, BIM/VDC personnel, General Contractors, and other trades.

- Maintain   accurate   point files, control information, field notes, layout records, issue logs, backups, and as-built information while protecting established project control and layout points.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- At least 2 years of construction layout, surveying, MEP installation, BIM, or closely related experience.

- Demonstrated ability to use a robotic total station and data collector or comparable layout equipment.

- Ability to read plans, coordinates, elevations, models, and control information and perform construction math.

- Ability to work independently on active jobsites and communicate discrepancies clearly.

- Valid driver's license and driving record that   meets   company requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

- Trimble   FieldLink , RTS, survey

- Technical training in surveying, geomatics, construction technology, or BIM.

- Commercial mechanical, plumbing, piping, or sheet-metal field experience.

- OSHA 30-hour Construction credential and current lift certifications.

Working Conditions

Must have the ability to perform the duties above in a non-controlled environment. This will include climbing ladders, working on ladders and elevated surfaces,   maintain   in   good working conditions, tools, materials, and equipment   required   to   your work area.   Working exposed to the elements during (when required) at all times of the year.   All employees   are required to   always wear PPE and always follow Safety procedures.
