To support our expanding national footprint, we now have an opportunity for a National LGV Operations Manager to join our logistics leadership team. Reporting directly to the Head of Transport and Fleet, this key operational leadership role will provide tactical governance across our UK heavy goods vehicle network, directly empowering site transport teams and safeguarding our Operator Licences while driving data-led operational excellence, compliance, and sustainability.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be an experienced LGV/HGV Transport Manager who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and shape operations as you go. You know your numbers inside out, can turn raw operational data into clear, persuasive business cases and act as the ultimate glue that brings cross-functional teams together towards a common goal.

As National LGV Operations Manager, you will:

- Lead & empower regional transport teams: Manage, coach, and develop a team of regional Transport Managers and specialist operational leads across our national network of 5 LGV sites.
- Drive compliance, safety and governance: Act as the ultimate custodian of the company’s Operator Licences (O-Licences), ensuring continuous DVSA audit readiness and strict adherence to driver hours and tachograph regulations.
- Drive operational efficiency & financial control: Manage the national transport budget with a focus on fuel efficiency, empty-running reduction, driver retention, and minimising agency reliance. Standardise hub processes to eliminate ramp delays, reduce vehicle-off-road (VOR) time, optimise cross-docking workflows, and improve OTIF delivery performance.
- Champion digital transformation & sustainability: Leverage telematics, AI, and paperless workflows to streamline site processes, reduce vehicle idling, max out asset utilisation, and hit key carbon-reduction targets in collaboration with the Fleet team.
- Strengthen key stakeholder relationships: Act as the vital operational link between site General Managers, central functions (Planning, People, Training), trade unions, regulatory bodies, and external retail partners.

About you:

- Certified Transport Manager: You hold a valid Transport Manager CPC (National or International) qualification with proven experience acting as a legal O-Licence holder or custodian.
- Multi-site transport leadership: Proven success leading multi-site heavy transport (LGV/HGV) operations within high-volume grocery, FMCG, retail distribution, or fast-paced logistics environments.
- Data-driven problem solver: Strong analytical mindset with experience managing transport budgets/P&Ls, utilising telematics data, and making strategic operational decisions under ambiguity.
- Influential & resilient leader: Outstanding stakeholder management skills with a track record of building collaborative relationships across operations, trade unions, and demanding commercial partners.
- Mobile & adaptable: Ability to work in a hybrid model with regular travel across our UK network sites (including key hubs such as Dordon and Erith).
