Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Sr. Geotechnical Mining Engineer for employment in Lima, Peru.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Lead Geotechnical field investigations, construction observation, rock blasting observations, collect Geotechnical samples, reporting of daily field operations, review of Geotechnical data, perform Geotechnical analysis, and report writing; and inspection of mining and heavy earthwork construction projects including tailing dams, stockpiles, leaching operations, foundations, slopes and tunnels.
- Develop material properties for soil and rock and evaluate the stability of tailing dams slopes, stock piles, and foundations
- Prepare portions of technical proposals and reports for tailings, stockpiles, leaching operations, and storm water facilities projects, regulatory agency permits, as well as less complex external and internal documents.
- Coordinate and integrate geotechnical mining evaluations results into civil design through the collaboration of other geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs.
- Develop tangible engineering design skills through field experience at mines locally and regionally. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, blasting, contractor/mining company engagement), site inspections, and Geotechnical investigations. Also provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.
- Recognize potential opportunities for additional work within an existing project or for an existing client.
- Engage in regional projects with other offices and disciplines.
- Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Execute project assignments while utilizing critical thinking, engineering procedures to carry out project tasks.
- Candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in the construction of in-house designs, which will build on existing client relationships and lead to future projects.
- Use computer programs including GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Settle3, and MathCAD for geotechnical analyses.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering
- 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience in Mining/Geotechnical Engineering projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Mining Engineering preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Experience using geotechnical software.
- English/Spanish fluency
