School Nurse (RN)

Compensation: $40–$48/hour

Job Description

The Stepping Stones Group (sister company of Kinetic) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Danbury, NC for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time position supporting a local K–12 district with private-duty/1:1 nursing services.

Working with The Stepping Stones Group provides consistent pay, clinical support from experienced nurses, and support from a team specializing in school-based nursing.

Minimum Requirements

- Active RN license valid in North Carolina

- Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program

- Current BLS CPR/AED certification

- Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student, including:

Tube feedings and management

- Oxygen and airway management

- Medication administration

- Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills

- Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment

- Experience working with the pediatric population

Additional Requirements

- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations

- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers

- Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation

- Prior school-based experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

- Maintain continuous observation of the assigned student throughout the school day

- Implement and monitor student health plans

- Accompany the student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned

- Communicate significant changes in the student's status to family, school staff, and clinical leadership

- Provide first aid, daily medical care, and emergency support

- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements
