The Maintenance Area Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and hands-on oversight for facility maintenance operations across assigned Aria Community Health Center locations. This position supervises two or more employees and is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and reliable facility operations. In addition to supervisory duties, the Maintenance Area Supervisor performs maintenance and repair work as needed to support operational requirements.

Essential Functions

Leadership & Personnel Management

- Directly supervises assigned maintenance employees.

- Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors daily work activities to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.

- Ensures staff compliance with organizational policies, procedures, safety requirements, and performance standards through ongoing training, communication, and coaching.

- Participates in onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.

- Coordinates employee schedules, workload distribution, and coverage to meet operational needs.

Facility Operations

- Performs preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance and repairs as needed.

- Oversees and assists with maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.

- Conducts routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational risks.

- Troubleshoots building systems and coordinates corrective actions to minimize downtime.

- Travels between clinic locations to provide maintenance support and operational oversight.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

- Ensures compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, HRSA, ADA, ACHC, and organizational policies and procedures.

- Supports emergency preparedness activities, safety initiatives, and Environment of Care programs.

- Identifies and addresses hazardous conditions and ensures timely completion of corrective actions.

- Maintains required safety records, inspections, and documentation.

Vendor & Project Management

- Coordinates and monitors contractors, vendors, and service providers.

- Obtains quotes, manages service agreements, and oversees project execution.

- Supports facility improvement projects, equipment replacements, and capital planning initiatives.

Budget & Administration

- Maintains maintenance records, inventories, and equipment documentation.

- Monitors and maintains maintenance work orders, ensuring tickets are accurately documented, assigned, updated, and completed in a timely manner.

- Assists with budget planning and monitors maintenance-related expenditures.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED required.

- Five (5) years of facility maintenance experience required.

- Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.

- Healthcare facilities experience preferred.

- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age due to meet the eligibility requirements of the organization's vehicle insurance program.

- Valid California Driver License and acceptable driving record required.

- Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

- Hearing: Sufficient to communicate effectively with employees, patients, vendors, contractors, and other staff in person and by telephone.

- Speaking: Ability to clearly communicate information, instructions, expectations, and safety requirements verbally.

- Vision: Near and distance visual acuity sufficient to inspect facilities, identify potential hazards, read work orders, technical manuals, gauges, equipment displays, and electronic screens, and safely operate a motor vehicle while traveling between assigned clinic locations.

- Cognitive Abilities: Ability to learn, understand, retain, and apply policies, procedures, safety regulations, technical information, and operational requirements. Ability to analyze information, troubleshoot problems, prioritize multiple tasks, exercise sound judgment, make decisions, and respond appropriately to changing operational needs and emergency situations.

- Motor Function & Mobility:

Ability to move throughout clinic facilities and grounds to perform inspections, maintenance activities, and supervisory responsibilities.

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, reaching, and climbing during the workday.

- Ability to safely climb ladders and access rooftops, mechanical rooms, and other maintenance-related work areas.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, computers, mobile devices, vehicles, and maintenance management systems.

- Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations as required to perform essential job functions.
