Position Overview:

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a key role in keeping manufacturing operations running smoothly by maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating materials, supporting production, and processing shipments. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving problems and working across teams.

Who you’ll work with:

- Report to the Materials Manager and partner closely with the Warehouse Supervisor.

- Work daily with Materials, Production, and Warehouse teams to support manufacturing and shipping needs.

- Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain inventory accuracy and keep materials and information flowing efficiently.

What You’ll Do:

- Inventory Control

Conduct weekly cycle counts and investigate inventory variances.

- Issue, stage, and coordinate materials for production orders.

- Maintain accurate inventory records and identify opportunities to improve accuracy.

- Production Support

Generate and process travelers, work instructions, labels, and shop order documentation.

- Enter and maintain production data in IFS, including KPIs, OEE, and MRB.

- Prepare reports and investigate data or documentation discrepancies.

- Shipping & Warehouse Support

Pick, prepare, and process daily small parcel and LTL shipments.

- Provide backup support for receiving, material handling, production line supply, and purchase orders.

- Cross-Functional Support

Partner with Materials, Production, and Warehouse teams to support daily operations.

- Assist with process improvement initiatives and other operational projects as needed.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

- High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, inventory control, warehouse, or production.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inventory, documentation, and data.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify solutions.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills

- Experience with ERP systems; IFS experience preferred.

- Proficiency with data entry, inventory management, and production documentation.

- Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.

- Ability to generate and interpret reports, KPIs, and operational data.

- Familiarity with shipping processes, including small parcel and LTL shipments, preferred.

Travel Requirements

- Travel is not typically required for this role; however, occasional travel may be requested to support professional development, training, or other business needs.

Work Environment

Office Environment

This position is based in an office environment and is primarily sedentary in nature. It requires regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Some roles may involve wearing a headset and sustained computer use for 8 or more hours per day. Employees may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, and occasional bending, lifting, or carrying items up to 50 pounds may be necessary.

Manufacturing/Distribution Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing plant environment. The role routinely involves working around machinery, equipment, and moving mechanical parts. The facility may be subject to varying temperatures, loud noise levels, and airborne particles such as dust or chemical fumes, depending on the area of the plant. This role may require periods of standing, sitting, or walking throughout the workday. Occasional bending, lifting, or carrying items up to 50 pounds may be necessary.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk. Hearing abilities required for this environment include being able to clearly hear and respond to audible alarms, production equipment, forklifts, and other machinery to maintain a safe work environment. Individuals must be able to distinguish and understand verbal communication including instructions, safety warnings, and team discussions, sometimes in an environment with moderate to high background noise.
