Treasury & Finance Operations Manager

The Role...

At Soho House, the Treasury & Fin Ops Manager will be in-market lead for treasury operations, cash disbursements and related financial controls across the North America business, providing the day-to-day link between our North America sites, US support office and the Soho Hub, our Finance Hub in the UK.

With core transaction processing and accounting activities managed centrally by the Soho Hub, this role provides critical in-market oversight of cash and payment activities and ensure the global treasury, payment and finance policies operate effectively across the US and Canada.

The role provides US time-zone coverage for time-sensitive treasury and payment matters, exercise judgement over exceptional cash requirements, supports the integrity of banking and payment controls and acts as a two-way liaison between local operations and the Hub. The role is also responsible for ensuring that time-critical financial and statutory matters requiring a local presence are appropriately managed and escalated.

Main Duties...

Treasury operations, cash management and controls

- Act as the North America point of contact for day-to-day treasury and cash management matters between our sites, US support office and the Soho Hub, supporting operations spanning four time zones.

- Provide in-market oversight of cash disbursement activities and related controls, ensuring payments are appropriately authorized, supported and executed in accordance with global treasury and finance policies.

- Support effective cash and banking controls across North America, identifying local workarounds or control gaps, agreeing remediation with the Soho Hub and escalating material exceptions.

- Partner with local FP&A, operations and the Soho Hub to ensure appropriate visibility of time-sensitive cash requirements and payment obligations.

- Promote strong cash management and financial risk awareness among non-Finance colleagues, ensuring treasury and payment control expectations are understood and applied consistently at site level.

Time-critical payments and treasury escalations

- Own US time-zone coverage for urgent treasury, cash and payment escalations across North America outside UK support hours.

- Exercise judgement over exceptional and time-sensitive funding and payment requirements, determining which requests require immediate action and which should be challenged or deferred through standard processes.

- Approve and facilitate exceptional payments within agreed delegated authority limits where deferring to the next working day would create material operational, regulatory or employee risk, including:

- F&B vendor payment holds that could prevent a House from opening a kitchen for service;

- Liquor holds with the potential to disrupt supply from vendors within a state;

- Regulatory or compliance payments required immediately for a House to continue trading;

- Same-day contractual payments required for scheduled events or performances; and

- Same-day employee payments where required by state law.

- Protect the integrity of the treasury and payment control environment while operating at pace, ensuring exceptional disbursements receive appropriate local approval and are communicated to the Soho Hub for subsequent accounting, reporting and compliance.

- Maintain a complete audit trail of exceptional treasury and payment activity, monitor root causes and escalate recurring issues for permanent resolution.

Financial authorities and statutory matters

- Serve as an in-market finance contact for relevant local city and state authorities where a US presence is required, helping ensure time-sensitive financial and regulatory matters are appropriately managed.

- Ensure time-critical financial and statutory correspondence is acknowledged, logged, routed to the appropriate owner and tracked to closure for US legal entities, including correspondence from tax authorities, labor authorities, lenders, insurers and legal or regulatory bodies.

- Coordinate with the Soho Hub, Tax, Legal, FP&A and other local stakeholders to ensure financial obligations arising from statutory correspondence are assessed and actioned ahead of applicable deadlines.

- Receive, log and route physical financial documentation and cheques where an in-market presence is unavoidable.

Treasury process improvement and stakeholder partnership

- Support North America sites and the US support office in complying with global treasury, cash management and payment processes, reinforcing established Hub processes and redirecting transactional activity to the Soho Hub as appropriate.

- Act as the in-market partner to the Soho Hub in resolving treasury, payment and site compliance issues at source.

- Identify recurring payment issues, manual processes, control gaps and business workarounds and partner with the Soho Hub to develop sustainable process improvements.

- Support continued enhancement of treasury controls, payment processes and ways of working as the North America finance operating model evolves.

- Promote a risk-aware and compliance-focused culture by providing guidance and support to local and Hub teams on treasury processes, payment controls and policy adherence.

- Invest in continuous professional development to enhance treasury, financial risk and broader finance capabilities.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements...

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related discipline; treasury or accounting qualification (e.g., CTP, CPA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA) desirable but not required.

- 5+ years of finance experience, with relevant experience across treasury operations, cash management, payments, banking or financial controls.

- Experience operating in a centralized or shared-services finance environment and partnering with remote processing teams.

- Practical experience with cash disbursements, payment controls, banking processes and financial risk management.

- Experience in a multi-site, multi-entity environment; hospitality, leisure or retail experience desirable.

Technical knowledge and systems

- Strong understanding of treasury and payment controls, authorization frameworks, audit trails and segregation of duties.

- Understanding of cash management, banking operations and payment processes.

- ERP / finance systems experience required; Oracle experience desirable.

In-market and regulatory knowledge

- Familiarity with US federal and state authority correspondence and associated financial obligations desirable.

- Working knowledge of US unclaimed property (escheatment) requirements desirable.

Skills and personal attributes

- Strong judgement in assessing and challenging time-sensitive cash and payment requirements while maintaining controls.

- Ability to balance operational urgency with treasury governance, financial risk and global policy requirements.

- Highly organized and detail-focused, with the ability to manage time-critical activity across UK and US time zones.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work across Operations, FP&A, Tax, Legal and centralized Finance teams.

- Able to work independently with confidential financial information and exercise sound judgement under pressure.

- Calm, pragmatic and solutions-oriented, with a strong understanding of financial risk and control.

In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is listed below. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. Pay Range $125,000 — $150,000 USD
