This provider will support the Stroke and Interventional service in the clinic and hospital. There will be a requirement of some weekend call coverage.

Summary
The Neurology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients with neurological conditions in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Working collaboratively with neurologists and multidisciplinary teams, the NP performs assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, initiates treatment plans, and provides education and support to patients and families.

Job Description
Conduct thorough neurological evaluations and health assessments for patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, headaches, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, neuropathy, and dementia.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., MRI, CT, EEG, EMG) in collaboration with neurologists.
Develop and manage treatment plans in accordance with best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
Prescribe medications and monitor for efficacy and adverse effects.
Provide patient and family education about diagnosis, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions and contribute to care planning.
Coordinate referrals to specialists, rehabilitation, or community services as needed.
Manage follow-up care, monitor disease progression, and adjust care plans accordingly.
Support patients during transitions of care (e.g., hospital discharge, rehabilitation, outpatient follow-up).
Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record.
Participate in clinical research or quality improvement initiatives as appropriate.
This position also provides on-call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Qualifications
Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.

Minimum of 1-2 years of NP experience preferred; neurology or neuroscience experience highly desirable

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC), Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP), Adult (ANP)
Neurology certification preferred but not required
Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
