FORVIA is looking for a year-round Prototype Engineering Intern for its location in Columbus, Michigan.

## Your mission, roles and responsibilities

As a Prototype Program Engineering Intern, you will support the Prototype team in coordinating orders, organizing technical information, tracking schedules, and improving the flow of information between engineering, manufacturing, scheduling, and program stakeholders. This internship provides hands-on exposure to prototype manufacturing, tooling activities, project coordination.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support the collection and organization of technical, timing, material, and customer information needed to execute prototype or tooling orders.
- Assist with prototype build reviews and follow-up activities, including documenting open topics, owners, and due dates.
- Help maintain order trackers, project timelines, delivery status, and lead-time information; promptly highlight risks or missing inputs to the supervisor.
- Coordinate with scheduling, engineering, tooling, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to support on-time completion of assigned activities.
- Assist with basic manufacturability and process-feasibility reviews under the guidance of experienced engineers and manufacturing leaders.
- Support make-or-buy information gathering for prototype components and tooling-related activities.
- Prepare concise status updates, meeting notes, dashboards, and KPI summaries for prototype delivery and order-submission performance.
- Help document and standardize processes, templates, checklists, and lessons learned to improve efficiency and information quality.
- Participate in continuous-improvement activities and support the team’s operating-system standards and workplace practices.
- Complete assigned work safely, accurately, and according to agreed schedules, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

## Your profile and competencies to succeed

- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Interest in manufacturing, product development, prototypes, tooling, or the automotive industry.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, or project management through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and SAP; experience with data analysis or dashboards is a plus.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and follow-through.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
