Engineering and Maintenance Manager

PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods.

SUMMARY:

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the management and execution of engineering projects and for all facilities and maintenance at the site, covering manufacturing equipment, packaging optimization and improvement, facility and utility projects, troubleshooting and investigation.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS in Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or equivalent work experience.

- 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering and maintenance leadership.

- Demonstrated in-depth understanding of technical equipment used in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing, specifically in producing liquid products and consumer healthcare goods.

- Experience in electricity, pipe fitting, electrical and general maintenance.

- Strong familiarity with, and ability to work under, cGMPs, OSHA, FDA and EPA standards.

- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs and servo systems is a plus.

- Able to apply technical knowledge, creativity and company practices to obtain solutions to complex problems while meeting project timelines.

- Six Sigma certification at some level is a plus

- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar design programs.

- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and schedule changes, and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and manage capital projects for production equipment and plant utility systems.

- Perform design and cost analyses of new and used production equipment.

- Produce, review and revise design drawings, including equipment layout drawings, and P&IDs including line sizing, instrumentation and control philosophies.

- Assist in the design, construction and qualification of the manufacturing facility and the equipment used to produce commercial products.

- Work with Operations, Quality and Validation to identify and select equipment and service vendors. Interact with vendors throughout the procurement process; review and approve vendor information and submittal packages, including drawings and specifications.

- Ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner consistent with company standards and regulatory guidelines and accurately forecast project completion dates.

- Responsible for all facilities and maintenance engineering for the 60,000 sq. ft. FDA-regulated manufacturing facility and the 180,000 sq. ft. office/distribution center.

- Review and analyze new and existing production equipment systems — describing and evaluating systems, identifying limiting components, and determining the costs and benefits of process improvement changes.

- Support test runs, validation runs, engineering runs and other requirements during manufacturing hours as applicable and be available on call after hours.

- Provide engineering technical support for the validation of pharmaceutical utilities such as RO and DI water systems, HVAC, compressed gases and clean steam, and various types of manufacturing equipment.

- Provide direction to associates assigned to projects and to the maintenance staff of 25–35 people.

- Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing projects that optimize production processes and realize cost savings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

- Capable of performing tasks that require manual dexterity and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

- Work safely and adhere to all OSHA regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures.

Target Hiring Salary: $130,000
