Surgical Technologist 1 Job Responsibilities:

- Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of the operative site, updating physician preference card, care of operative specimens, and room turnover.
- Performs and/or provides scrub assistance during procedures that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base
- Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
- Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment, and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins
- Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
- Exercises care in the operation and use of instruments/equipment/ and reports/follow the appropriate procedure for broken items.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Education: High School or GED
- Experience: None required
- Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist - Upon Start; Registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist at time of hire
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience: Level one (1) trauma experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience: Surgical Technologist experience in Ortho, Trauma, Neuro, Robotics, Vascular preferred.
