Purpose of the role
To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.
Accountabilities
- Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
- Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
- Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
- Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
- Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
- Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
- Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
- Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

As an Associate Banker within the International Corporate Banking team, you will support the coverage and development of relationships with FinTechs, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), and other regulated non-bank financial institutions. Working closely with Relationship Directors and product partners, you will contribute to business development, client management, and the delivery of tailored banking solutions that meet clients' evolving requirements across payments, liquidity, foreign exchange, and lending.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the management and development of client relationships within the FinTech and non-bank financial PSP portfolio, delivering a high standard of client service and contributing to revenue growth opportunities.
- Assist Relationship Directors with day-to-day portfolio management activities, client engagement, and business development initiatives.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of clients' business models, growth strategies, regulatory environments, and transaction flows to identify opportunities across Barclays' product suite.
- Partner with Payments, Liquidity, FX, Trade & Working Capital, Credit, Risk, and other product specialists to deliver appropriate solutions and deepen client relationships.
- Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding process, including KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), account opening, and implementation activities, ensuring a seamless client experience.
- Support annual credit reviews, periodic client reviews, and internal approval processes while ensuring adherence to Barclays' risk and control framework.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support successful deal execution, onboarding, and ongoing service delivery.
- Continuously develop knowledge of the FinTech, Payments, and Financial Institutions sectors, sharing insights and best practices with colleagues.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Knowledge of transaction banking products, including Payments, Liquidity Management, Foreign Exchange, Lending, and Trade & Working Capital solutions.
- An understanding of the payment ecosystems, including Payment Service Providers, Electronic Money Institutions, Embedded Finance providers, and other non-bank financial institutions.
- Experience with Customer Due Diligence, KYC requirements, Financial Crime policies, and regulatory compliance processes.
- An understanding of risk management principles, including credit, operational, compliance, and reputational risk considerations.
- Ability to analyze client requirements, understand complex transaction flows, and identify appropriate banking solutions.
- Stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple internal functions.
Desirable skills include:
- Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence in preparing client presentations and internal papers.
- Analytical capabilities, including market research, portfolio analysis, and financial assessment skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent German and English language skills.

This role is based in Frankfurt, Germany.
This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
