Position Overview
AttoTude is seeking a hands-on Fabrication Technician to support the development and execution of micro- and nanofabrication processes for our core technology. This role is based in the Berkeley Nanolab and works closely with AttoTude engineers and researchers to fabricate, iterate, and characterize devices in a fast-moving R&D environment.
This position is well-suited for either:
- An experienced fabrication technician who enjoys executing and improving process flows
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and excited to work on cutting-edge fabrication challenges in a shared-user cleanroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute micro- and nanofabrication process flows in the Berkeley Nanolab cleanroom
• Operate fabrication equipment including:
- Photolithography tools (spin coaters, mask aligners, developers)
- Dry and wet etching tools (RIE, DRIE, wet etch)
- Thin film deposition systems (evaporation, sputtering, PECVD)
- Metrology and inspection tools (optical microscopy, profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM)
- Support process development, optimization, and repeatability for AttoTude devices
- Maintain detailed fabrication logs, travelers, and process documentation
- Follow all Berkeley Nanolab safety, chemical handling, and cleanroom protocols
- Contribute to continuous improvement of AttoTude fabrication workflows
Required Qualifications
• Prior experience working in a micro- or nanofabrication cleanroom (academic, industrial, or internship experience acceptable)
• Familiarity with semiconductor, MEMS, or nanofabrication processes
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and refine complex process flows
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small technical team
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–10+ years of hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience
• Experience in a shared-user academic or national lab facility
• Interest in growing into a process or device engineering role
• Comfortable working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment
Annual Salary Range $90,000 — $150,000 USD
