Electrical Project Engineer (Power Infrastructure)

Position Summary:

Hunt Energy Network is developing large-scale islanded (behind-the-meter) power campuses serving hyperscale AI data center loads, anchored by a multi-hundred-MW natural gas engine and BESS program currently in active development. This hybrid role pairs commercial origination with hands-on project execution: the Manager will advance offtake and partnership opportunities for the islanded power platform while managing day-to-day development execution — vendors, permits, schedule, and budget — under the Vice President of EPC. The role also supports evaluation and execution of broader business development and M&A opportunities across the Hunt energy platform.

Responsibilities:

- Review and coordinate electrical design deliverables: one-line diagrams, 34.5 kV / 13.8 kV MV collector and distribution design, switchgear specifications, protection and relay coordination, and grounding — across the owner's engineer, OEM, and EPC.

- Support power system studies: short-circuit/fault current (ETAP), load flow, arc flash, harmonics, and grid-forming BESS integration studies for islanded (off-grid) operation; track study inputs and reconcile results against equipment ratings.

- Coordinate generator electrical integration: genset alternator data, paralleling and controls interfaces, transformer and cable schedules, and factory/site acceptance test review.

- Maintain project electrical analyses: generation capacity and redundancy (N+X) cases, energization ramp sequencing, auxiliary load estimates, and BESS sizing inputs against load-swing requirements.

- Prepare and quality-check technical documents: RFIs, vendor technical requests, purchase order technical exhibits, and permit application electrical inputs; track vendor deliverables and interfaces to closure.

- Attend design reviews, factory witness tests, and site visits; support commissioning planning as the program moves to execution.

Required Skills:

- Working knowledge of MV power systems: switchgear, transformers, protective relaying, and cable systems; exposure to power system study tools (ETAP, SKM, or PSCAD) strongly preferred.

- Strong analytical and documentation skills — able to translate study results and vendor data into decision-ready summaries for senior stakeholders.

- Willingness to travel to project sites, factory tests, and vendor locations (~15–25%).

Required Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (power systems emphasis preferred); EIT/FE a plus.

- 2–5 years of experience in power generation, utility/industrial electrical design, data centers, or EPC electrical engineering.

- Familiarity with any of the following is a plus: reciprocating engine gensets or turbines, BESS/inverter-based resources and grid-forming controls, islanded/microgrid operation, or NEC/IEEE standards for generation facilities.
