Summary

The Associate Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis directs the organization's financial strategy by leading budgeting, forecasting, decision support, and workforce analytics functions; aligning these functions to enhance operational efficiency, resource allocation, and organizational sustainability. Reporting to executive leadership, this role ensures fiscal discipline, optimizes financial performance, and provides actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across Jackson Health System.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Direct the development and execution of the organization's financial planning, analysis, and reporting strategy.
- Oversee integration of budgeting, forecasting, decision support, and workforce management to support strategic goals.
- Advise executive leadership on financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional teams and integrate diverse operational functions to achieve organizational objectives.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Approve and present comprehensive financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts to executive leaders, the board, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and recommend initiatives to improve cost efficiency, revenue generation, and operational effectiveness.
- Direct the design and execution of complex data analysis to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Ensure the availability, integrity, and accuracy of organizational data and analytics systems.
- Approve performance metrics, dashboards, and analytical models that enhance organizational decision-making.
- Lead system-wide workforce management strategies to improve productivity, optimize staffing, and control labor costs.
- Oversee development of standardized productivity reporting, internal benchmarks, and units of service.
- Ensure workforce management strategies align with operational needs, patient care standards, and financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes to ensure accountability and transparency.
- Build strong partnerships with executives, operational leaders, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in professional forums, industry networks, and community engagements related to finance and workforce strategy.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within all reporting departments.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

- Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience.
- Leadership experience is required.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
- Master's degree is strongly preferred.

Skill

Must have knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills are necessary. Must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of organizational fundamentals of developing and coordinating budget activities and schedules for a large and complex healthcare institution. Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with all financial standards and regulations applicable to hospitals by various governmental, funding, and accrediting agencies. Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance to make improvements or take corrective action. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Must be knowledgeable in current healthcare trends and policies.
