Packaging Engineer

Job Title: Packaging Engineer Job Description The Packaging Engineer supports packaging components and systems within a regulated manufacturing environment, with a focus on liquid products. This role manages packaging specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), documentation, and change control while driving packaging optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer collaborates closely with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to ensure that all packaging materials and components meet quality, regulatory, and operational requirements across the full packaging lifecycle. Responsibilities

- Support packaging components used in liquid manufacturing operations, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and manage detailed packaging specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all packaging components and systems.
- Evaluate packaging materials, components, molding processes, and manufacturing methods to ensure suitability, efficiency, and consistency.
- Support packaging change management and lifecycle activities, including design updates, improvements, and optimizations.
- Partner with vendors and suppliers to improve packaging materials and component performance and to resolve technical issues.
- Review and evaluate packaging samples from production lines to verify conformance to specifications and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all packaging changes are properly documented, reviewed, approved, and compliant with applicable requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues in a timely manner.
- Understand and optimize how packaging components interface with manufacturing equipment and processes, including packaging lines.
- Contribute to packaging optimization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support documentation management activities, including creation, revision, and control of packaging-related documents under GMP guidelines.
- Assist with equipment-related activities such as packaging equipment installation and maintenance support as they relate to packaging components.

Essential Skills

- Experience in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, components, and manufacturing processes, including packaging lines and liquid packaging systems.
- Experience managing packaging specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of packaging change control processes and lifecycle management for packaging components and systems.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills for creating and maintaining packaging specifications and related records.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple packaging projects and documentation streams.
- Experience working directly with suppliers, vendors, and cross-functional teams such as manufacturing and quality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, cosmetics, medical device, or consumer products manufacturing.
- Familiarity with packaging systems used for liquid products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting packaging optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Background in documentation management within a regulated environment.
- Experience with equipment maintenance or support as it relates to packaging equipment and lines.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and driving improvements with suppliers.
- Exposure to production environments and manufacturing processes involving packaging lines.

Work Environment This role operates within a GMP-compliant, clean, state-of-the-art facility that includes a mix of office space, laboratories, and manufacturing areas. The environment supports advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing with modern packaging lines and equipment. The position follows a minimum 40-hour workweek with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and offers flexibility around start and end times as long as core hours are covered. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
