The Mechanical Engineering Technician reviews engineering drawings and supports the upgrade and testing of power supply systems in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This role inspects test units, documents findings for engineering teams, and contributes to continuous improvements focused on safety, quality, and efficiency. The technician uses precision measuring equipment and collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to ensure high-quality assemblies and reliable performance.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions to support the upgrade and testing of power supply systems.
- Inspect test units and assemblies using precision measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications and tight tolerances.
- Document inspection results, test findings, and nonconformances clearly and accurately for engineering and quality teams.
- Perform inspection, testing, and verification of mechanical and electromechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Follow detailed assembly procedures to build complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues and communicate findings to engineering and production teams.
- Utilize micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and other precision measurement tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Work with tight tolerances, including measurements down to .001", to maintain high quality and reliability standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency in the manufacturing process.
- Contribute to process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance product quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality personnel to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain organized, accurate records of inspections, tests, and related documentation.
- Support equipment assembly, metal fabrication, and automotive or industrial-style builds as needed.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles in day-to-day activities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Essential Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly procedures.
- Hands-on experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and gauge blocks.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools to work with tight tolerances, including .001".
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Experience performing quality inspections, testing, and documentation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to follow detailed assembly procedures and build complex mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.
- Troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Experience working in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, energy, aerospace, or industrial environments.
- Experience contributing to process or safety improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement, inspection, and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams in a hands-on environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with automotive, metal fabrication, equipment assembly, or similar mechanical fields.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Experience documenting inspection results and quality findings for engineering or quality assurance teams.
- Comfort working with power supply systems or related industrial equipment.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a focus on technical excellence.
- Interest in contributing to energy, power generation, or industrial technology applications.
Work Environment
This role is based in a hands-on manufacturing environment focused on power supply systems and related mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with opportunities for overtime. The position is structured as a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension or transition to direct hire based on performance and business needs. You will work closely with engineering and production teams, using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, bore gauges, and gauge blocks, and operating within tight tolerances. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
