About this role
Serves as the DOJ’s principal technical authority on accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.x, Revised 508 Standards, and related ICT guidelines. Advises designers, developers, communications teams, and product owners to ensure accessible solutions from concept to deployment. Supports DOJ efforts to ensure that information and communication technology products and services that are procured, maintained, or used are accessible to employees and members of the public with disabilities.
Essential Functions
- Interpret federal accessibility standards and translate them into actionable technical guidance.
- Develop accessibility design patterns, developer checklists, and UX guidelines for enterprise use.
- Provide early-stage consultations for new digital services, systems, procurements, and communications.
- Conduct technical reviews of designs, wireframes, prototypes, content, and digital products.
- Support creation of accessibility playbooks and design system components.
- Guide product teams through remediation and integration of accessibility requirements into SDLC.
- Advise Test/QA Lead on test scenarios and criteria.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of ICT accessibility testing experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
- Deep understanding of Revised Section 508 Standards and WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
- Proficiency with manual testing procedures including keyboard-only navigation and code review.
- Expertise in evaluating and creating Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs).
- Ability to document and interpret test results, and advise on remediation techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical staff.
