Behind every Medicare member who finds the right provider, gets a claim paid correctly, and receives care on time, there's software that has to work, every time. At USAMCO, The National Networks of Choice, you'll write that software.

We're a Medicare-focused managed care organization connecting members, providers, and health plans nationwide, and we're in the middle of a bold transformation. We're rebuilding a 40-year-old legacy foundation into a modern, cloud-native healthcare platform powered by Creatio CRM, a Databricks data lakehouse, and automated delivery. This isn't a maintenance gig. It's a chance to design and build the systems that will run healthcare operations for years to come.

A secure design means a senior's health data stays protected. We're looking for an engineer who feels that responsibility and builds accordingly.

What You'll Build

- Modern healthcare applications. Design, develop, and maintain applications, services, and APIs that support members, providers, and claims operations.

- The integrations that connect it all. Build reliable data flows between Creatio, Databricks, and legacy systems, turning decades of healthcare data into something teams can trust and use.

- The modernization itself. Translate legacy business logic into clean, well-documented, maintainable code as we move off our IBM i platform.

- Quality from the start. Champion code reviews, automated testing, and sound architecture so the codebase stays healthy as it grows.

- Secure by design. Write software that protects member data and meets HIPAA and CMS requirements from the first commit.

- A smarter delivery pipeline. Put your experience to work contributing to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and observability so the team ships faster and safer.

- A stronger team. Mentor developers across a team of about 30 technologists and help set the engineering standards USAMCO runs on.

Your First-Year Impact

- Deliver key components of our legacy-to-modern migration.

- Build and stabilize integrations that power provider, member, and claims data.

- Raise the bar on code quality, testing, and documentation across the team.

- Help mature our CI/CD and release practices alongside platform and infrastructure partners.

What You Bring

- 10+ years of professional software development, including at least 3 in a senior or lead role.

- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

- Deep proficiency in one or more modern languages, such as C#/.NET, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and large, complex datasets.

- Hands-on experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and data pipelines.

- Experience building on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

- Working DevOps experience, including CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar), version control best practices, and exposure to infrastructure as code or containers.

- A documentation-first mindset and a knack for building systems others can understand and maintain.

- The ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to engineers, business partners, and executives.

Bonus Points

- Healthcare, health insurance, or other regulated-industry experience (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST).

- Experience with Databricks, Creatio, or other low-code/CRM platforms.

- Experience modernizing legacy systems, especially mainframe, IBM i, or RPG environments.

- Familiarity with data engineering concepts like data lakehouses, medallion architecture, or change data capture.

- A graduate degree in a relevant field.

Qualifications

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development.
- Proven track record of working on mid to large-scale software projects.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and practices.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and design patterns.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Familiarity with software testing and debugging techniques.
