About this role
The highly skilled Mechanic will inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the fleet of Ride Care vehicles, developing and ongoing and detailed maintenance log for every vehicle in the fleet.
- Assist with retrieval of fleet vehicles when deemed undriveable, working to restore the vehicle to operations quickly.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and brake repairs.
- Inspect and identify safety and repair issues.
- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify vehicle issues and auto-body repairs when necessary.
- Diagnose leaks effectively.
- Replace engine components (including head gaskets, shocks, struts, front end components).
- Remove and install transmissions, transfer cases and engines.
- Rebuild differentials and transfer cases.
- Perform A/C compressor and component repairs and recharging.
- Perform brake lining replacement.
- Tune up, replace spark plugs, wires, clean throttle body and clean air flow sensors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workshop.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager or other leadership.
Qualifications
Requirements
- 3-5 years proven experience as a mechanic.
- ASE certification helpful but not required.
- Proven ability to work alone, managing time effectively to produce results.
- Operate with flexibility and adaptability to any environment, making immediate decisions and resolving conflict.
- Operate in highly stressful situations from both internal and external sources.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Expertise in conducting brake repairs, maintaining vehicles, and performing auto-body repairs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel within and outside the state as needed (10%).
