The Opportunity:
Were looking for an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to join our team in Burlington. The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing operation. This role oversees Production Supervisors across Day, Afternoon, and Night shifts and is accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality production activities that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
Reason for Vacancy: This is an incremental headcount role that has been added to support the growth of the team.
Compensation: The target salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership, direction, coaching, and performance management to Production Supervisors and production teams across all shifts.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls all production activities to ensure operational objectives, production schedules, and customer requirements are met.
- Develops and executes production plans that optimize labour, equipment, materials, and resources.
- Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, GMPs, SOPs, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Drives a culture of safety and accountability by maintaining a safe and healthy working environment and ensuring all incidents are investigated and corrective actions implemented.
- Monitors production performance through key metrics including productivity, efficiency, quality, waste, downtime, and labour utilization.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, process optimization, waste reduction, and cost control.
- Collaborates with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning, and Human Resources to ensure seamless operations and achievement of business objectives.
- Reviews and analyzes production reports, identifies trends, and implements corrective and preventive actions to improve performance.
- Develops and maintains effective manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
- Supports capacity planning and resource allocation to meet current and future production demands.
- Ensures accurate inventory control practices and supports inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Champions employee engagement, communication, training, development, and succession planning within the production team.
- Participates in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee relations activities.
- Leads and supports internal and external audits, including GMP, Health & Safety, and customer audits.
- Works closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, preventive maintenance planning, and minimal production downtime.
- Develops and manages departmental budgets and supports cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensures production objectives are aligned with company strategic priorities and customer expectations.
- Provides regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership regarding operational performance, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 7+ years of manufacturing experience within a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years of management experience leading teams or supervisors.
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, Health & Safety regulations, WHMIS, and quality systems.
- Proven experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
- Strong leadership, coaching, team-building, and employee development skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is considered an asset.
