Senior Engineering Delivery Lead

The Senior Engineering Delivery Manager is responsible for driving integrated engineering execution across the Core User Terminal (Core UT) platform. This role serves as the central coordination point across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring software, hardware, integration, test, and release activities are aligned to deliver predictable, high-quality outcomes.
 
Working within the User Terminal Engineering organization, the Senior Engineering Delivery Manager partners closely with Engineering Managers, Product Management, Program Management, Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Architecture teams, and the Solution-level Release Train Engineer (RTE) to manage cross-functional dependencies, integration readiness, execution risks, and release delivery.
 
As the delivery lead for the Core UT segment, the role provides execution visibility, dependency management, release readiness, and milestone status into the broader Lightspeed Solution Train, ensuring alignment with solution-level objectives, Program Increment commitments, and release plans.
This role focuses on engineering execution leadership and delivery coordination rather than direct people management, product ownership, project management, or architectural decision-making.

Main Responsibilities

Engineering Delivery Leadership

- Own and maintain the integrated Core User Terminal delivery plan across multiple engineering teams and disciplines.

- Drive execution coordination spanning software, modem hardware, systems engineering, integration, verification, validation, and release functions.

- Establish and maintain delivery milestones, priorities, ownership, critical paths, and execution plans.

- Identify, manage, and drive resolution of cross-functional dependencies, engineering risks, and delivery blockers.

- Escalate unresolved issues and schedule risks to engineering leadership while recommending mitigation plans.

- Facilitate cross-functional alignment to ensure engineering commitments support overall program objectives.

- Provide Core UT execution status, risks, dependencies, and readiness assessments to support solution-level planning and governance activities led by the Solution RTE.

Integration and Release Delivery

- Lead planning and execution of platform integration and release activities across the Core UT product.

- Drive integration readiness planning, execution tracking, and milestone achievement.

- Develop and maintain release readiness criteria, quality gates, and go/no-go readiness reviews.

- Coordinate system integration events across engineering disciplines.

- Monitor and mitigate integration risks before they impact delivery commitments.

- Ensure engineering deliverables meet agreed readiness requirements prior to formal release activities.

- Support solution-level integration and release planning by providing accurate readiness assessments, dependency visibility, and risk mitigation plans.

Delivery Governance and Execution Reporting

- Provide consolidated delivery status and execution visibility to engineering leadership.

- Develop and maintain engineering dashboards, milestone reporting, dependency trackers, risk registers, and blocker management processes.

- Deliver regular execution reviews highlighting delivery progress, risks, mitigation actions, integration readiness, and release status.

- Facilitate engineering delivery reviews and cross-functional coordination forums to maintain organizational alignment.
Track delivery performance indicators and identify trends requiring management attention.

- Represent Core UT delivery status and readiness in solution-level planning, synchronization, and governance forums.

Cross-Functional Delivery Coordination

- Partner with Product Management to translate approved scope and priorities into executable engineering plans.
Collaborate with Program Management to ensure engineering execution accurately supports overall program planning and reporting.

- Work with Engineering Managers to align team commitments, schedules, assumptions, and delivery objectives.

- Coordinate with System Architects and technical specialists to convert architectural direction into executable work plans, milestones, and integration activities.

- Partner with the Solution-level RTE to communicate Core UT delivery status, dependencies, execution risks, and milestone readiness.

- Coordinate and manage cross-segment dependencies impacting solution-level commitments and releases.

- Support resolution of integration, schedule, and execution issues affecting delivery across the broader Solution Train.

- Represent Core UT engineering execution within solution-level planning and synchronization activities.

Continuous Delivery Improvement

- Lead lessons-learned and post-release reviews following major integration and release activities.

- Develop metrics that improve delivery predictability, dependency management, blocker resolution, and release quality.

- Recommend and implement process improvements that increase engineering effectiveness, execution transparency, and delivery reliability.

- Contribute to the evolution of engineering operating models, integration practices, and delivery governance frameworks.

- Reduction in dependency-related schedule impacts.

Education and Experience Required

Qualifications Required

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

- 7+ years of experience leading complex engineering development programs in software, hardware, telecommunications, aerospace, networking, or related technology industries.

- Experience coordinating multiple engineering teams in a highly technical product development environment.

- Demonstrated success managing cross-functional dependencies, integration activities, and release execution.

- Strong understanding of systems engineering, software development lifecycles, product development processes, and technical risk management.

- Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to influence outcomes across organizations without direct authority.

- Experience with Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Release Train Engineering, or similar execution frameworks.

Preferred

- Experience in satellite communications, wireless communications, networking, modem development, or user terminal systems.

- Experience leading platform-level integration and release activities involving both hardware and software deliverables.

- Familiarity with large-scale telecommunications or aerospace development programs.

- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), PMP, Agile, or equivalent certifications.

- Experience developing engineering metrics, dashboards, and execution governance processes.

Organizational Relationships

The Senior Engineering Delivery Manager is accountable for engineering execution, dependency management, integration readiness, and release coordination across the Core User Terminal platform.

As the delivery lead for the UT segment, the role works closely with the Solution-level Release Train Engineer (RTE) to ensure alignment of commitments, dependencies, milestones, and release readiness across the broader Lightspeed Solution Train. The role provides delivery visibility and execution coordination for Core UT while supporting solution-level planning, integration, and release objectives.

Staffing, product prioritization, architecture decisions, and resource management remain the responsibility of Engineering Management, Product Management, and Systems Architecture.
