Clinical Counsellor

Job Summary:  
The Clinical Counselor will:
•Work alongside a multi-disciplinary early intervention team and participate in program development.
•Facilitate counseling to children and/or families who are considered at risk in one or more areas of development.
•Participate in regular service reviews, case and team consultation/supervision and meetings as required.
•Develop and implement therapeutic plans and programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
•Maintain a caseload and provide transition planning.
•Liaise with and provide referrals to community agencies, committees, and other professionals.
•Establish and maintain current professional practice.

Education, Training and Experience

- Master’s degree in counselling psychology or a related field.

- Minimum 2 years of recent experience with children and families

- Demonstrated working knowledge of family centered practice, early intervention, child development, family support and community-based services

Qualifications:  Skills and Abilities

- Must possess organizational and time management skills

- Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and organizations

- Flexible in responding to changing conditions and committed to working within a team environment

- Familiar with using an electronic database and virtual platforms

- Valid BC Driver’s License and personal vehicle

- Demonstrated ability to work alone and unsupervised

Advocacy:

- To advocate for individual clients and families so they obtain needed support

- To support families in advocating for their child

- To advocate for support and change within the systems that affect children and families

Please Note:

- The successful candidate will begin employment at the Clements Building

- Hours are flexible and negotiable, opportunities for hybrid working in office and from home

- This position will require a valid B.C. Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle for transportation

- This position is open to all qualified individuals and requires Union membership
