As a Product Design Intern, you will be able to work primarily with the Marvel and Lucasfilm design teams to assist on a variety of toy, collectible, and souvenir projects. This includes helping identify toy trends, brainstorming new concepts, developing inspiration boards to share with licensees, assisting with preliminary product reviews, and sketching toy ideas. You'll assist the Design team, developing a broad range of hardline product categories, including: line reviews, weekly production meetings, sample reviews, and final production approvals, learning about the product development process while working with licensees from concept through production.

Our team also collaborates with Commercialization, Legal, Brand Integrity, Franchise, Studio, and Brand Assurance teams.

If selected, you will report to and meet regularly with the Product Design Manager while working independently on assignments, managing projects, and meeting deliverables.

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in Glendale, California, from January 2027 through June 2027.

What You Will Do:

- Research current market trends and competitor products to stay updated on industry developments
- Monitor product innovation and market dynamics
- Assist the design team in brainstorming and conceptualizing new toy/collectible ideas
- Build product concept decks and participate in design reviews by providing input to improve product concepts
- Create sketches, drawings, prototypes and decks to bring product concepts to life
- Assist the Design team throughout the development cycle, which will include line reviews, licensee meetings, sample reviews, and executive share-outs

Required Qualifications and Skills:

- Solid knowledge of toy categories, particularly figures, playsets, and vehicles
- Skilled in sketching, storytelling and concept creation
- Understanding of manufacturing (raw materials, plastic molding, textiles, deco applications, label art)

- Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing, conversation, and collaborative settings

- Strong product design skills (e.g., technical design, sketching, creative application)
- Proficiency in design software solution ; specifically Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Passion for Disney brands with a love for Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Properties
- Enthusiasm for product design and a passion for sparking our guests’ imaginations
- Ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
- The ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

- Coursework and/or experience in Graphic Design
- Skillset in Keynote/ PowerPoint for deck creation
- 3D CAD skills

Education:

- Senior year preferred
- Pursuing a degree in Toy Design, Product Design or Industrial Design

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below

- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Disney College Program.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information:

- The dates of this internship are January 11th 2027 through June 4th 2027.
- Full-time hours Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific Time Zone for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.

- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California, area.
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
The pay rate for this role in Glendale, CA is $23.00 per hour.
