Job Description:
SCOPE: Performs routine and waived and moderate complexity laboratory testing and specimen collection in accordance with established procedures, regulatory requirements, and scope of practice. Performs phlebotomy under physician direction and facility supervision in compliance with Louisiana law. Ensures accurate specimen handling, documentation, quality control, and adherence to safety standards to support patient care.
FUNCTIONS:
1. Collects specimens from patients, ensures quality control and performs specimen testing.
2. Verify lab orders are available and patients are registered.
3. Process specimens for internal and external processing.
4. Management of Lab area
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of a phlebotomy certification program preferred
1 year experience in a lab preferred; oncology experience preferred
Active Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) Laboratory Assistant license, or pending with active status achieved within 90 days of hire date
Phlebotomy certification preferred
