Purpose
The Security Officer maintains a safe and secure environment for the Pine Crest community by protecting personnel, equipment, and property. This role involves proactive campus patrols, traffic control, and public assistance, while serving as a vigilant first-line responder for emergency management and crisis escalation across all facilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports the Schools mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Execute physical security patrols across interior and exterior campus facilities—on foot and via security vehicle—to maintain a visible safety presence and secure assets.
- Enforce campus safety protocols and traffic procedures during morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, and high-volume special events.
- Monitor traffic movement across campus grounds, actively identifying and reporting suspicious vehicles or unauthorized activity
- M onitor alarm panels and life-safety systems, executing precise protocol procedures during both scheduled drills and live emergency events.
- Maintain operational readiness and rapid response capability for all fire alarm systems, AEDs, First Aid equipment, and emergency apparatus.
- De-escalate and manage unpredictable, high-stress situations while handling frequent interruptions, concurrent dispatch calls, and community inquiries.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive institutional data, student information, and privileged incidents.
- Collaborate closely with Shift Supervisors on incident reporting and operational updates, resolving conflicts constructively to support team productivity.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain assigned security vehicles and department equipment to ensure 100% operational readiness.

Qualifications
Job Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience working as a security guard, police officer or prior military experience
Certifications and Licenses
Florida Class D License
Working Conditions
- Working, including standing and walking, for prolonged periods of time
- Intermittent physical activity including, running, kneeling, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Working indoors or outdoors for prolonged periods of time in varying weather conditions
- May be subject to working hours during, before, and after the regular school day and occasional overtime
- Occasional travel may be required (e.g., between campuses)
